BGB pg 71, Shooting at Skimmers, 1st para, last sentence:

...counts as obscured (cover save of 4+) when fired at.

That would be the part they failed to read.

Doesn't the ramming rule only apply to tanks?

A skimmer tank does.

SO can my landspeeder ram a tank or not?

Nyet, tovarisch.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

No, a landspeeder cannot. It's not a tank.

Except that since neither the ramming skimmer tank nor the vehicle being rammed is shooting at the skimmer, the moving fast cover save doesn't apply.

skimmers can make a dodge if they're rammed, though.

edit: p71 of the small rulebook gives them a 3+ save against rams, apparently

Note that the "dodge" save skimmer have against being rammed cannot be taken when the ramming tank is also a skimmer.

Wow... that hurts my brain. IIRC, you need to move a FULL 24" in order to be 'flat out' - so if you were 'just outside' 24" the ram doesn't happen and 'just inside' 24" you wouldn't be flat out, nor get the +6 to your roll.

Even if a skimmer could ram with a 24" fartwind onto a tank (getting the flatout obscured roll), which it can't, it would be very very very improbable.

Please note - terms like 'always/never' are carried with the basic understanding that there are exceptions to the rule, and therefore are used to mean generally...

Huh? I though flat out was over 12"

IIRC, it is MAX SPEED over 12" for skimmers, that is 24"... but I am sure I am wrong. I am mostly.

yeah, I know with 100% certainty that flatout is anything between 13-24"
