I believe that's the old greater daemon.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity...... |

Are there any better things to use as a great unclean one besides the forgeworld models(too expensive) and the current model (too ugly)?

Hey! I've got one of those! (the nurgle daemon in question, that is...)

well, being an Eldar player, I'm not a Chaos connoisseur. However, I am a lover of the early GW 40K models. I'm ambivalent towards the model; he's kinda cute and ugly at the same time and very outdated by today's standards for models. Reminiscent of the old AD&D Otyugh (or however that was spelled) for those who have been around long enough to remember such things.
For curiousity's sake (and to price my own model...), how much are you being asked for it?

I have one, it's like half the size of the current one, I put it on a tall base to bulk it up.
Nice model though.
You can also check Ultraforge (I think) they just did a plague demon.

I see no reason why you can't use that as a greater Daemon. As others have mentioned before, put him on a pile of bodies, skeletons, as if he were the king of the mountain if you think him a bit small. But back in the Old School days, that's what we used for greater Daemons..

Well, here are some other pics of the old great unclean one. Maybe you can decide if you like this guy or not:
The mini is "Outdated." 40k has moved on from this look to something wholly different, and updated this guy to match.
By the way, this is what the Keeper of Secrets used to look like

Check out Ultraforge. I have their Plague Demon (the "plague" guy with the horned head). They also make a Lord of Pestilence model that could make a decent Nurgle GD.
It's a little pricey, but cheaper than Forgeworld BY FAR, and well worth the investment.

I have that model. I actually picked up all four Greater Demons from that era. The only one I didn't really like was the Bloodthirster. It just never looked vicious enough. The Nurgle one is nice though a bit on the small side compared to today's standards. Just think though... the smaller he is, the harder he is to hit. And besides, NOT picking him because of his size would be discrimination and who wants that?!

The old 'thirster just needs a head replacement and a bigger axe (like the old KOS bull-head, with static grass before priming for 'hair'), and it's a great mini. I've seen a lot of conversions on it... The forgeworld GreatUncleanOne is TOO BIG if anything. At first I was never sure if it was a miniature GUO or a 1:1 scale nurgling. BTW, I love that Slave-Giant model.

That's a fair price.
The nurgle daemon used to have many varients, there were two types of legs, several arms and about half a dozen varients of chest and head/horns. I have two, one with a normal looking stomach and one with a huge mouth in it.
Here you go.
