I have searched the forum and have not come up with anything, so I thought I'd post this one seemingly simple question. Can flying units run? I have always assumed the could run following hteir 12" move. It never occurred to me that they could not run, but the last two opponents I faced did not think my flying ripper swarms could run in the shooting phase. I know jump pack troops can move 12" and run. Have I missed something?

There is no such thing as a flying unit.

If you mean Jump Infantry then the answer is yes. Jump Infantry (like all special unit types) follow the basic rules for infantry unless specified otherwise.

Since their rules (on page 52) never state that they aren't allowed to run they therefore are allowed to run.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?

Thanks for the response. I am specifically referring to Ripper Swarms that have been given the Winged biomorph. I have heard from two opponents that they are not permitted to run in the shooting phase. I have found no such prohibition.

The bio-morph allows them to move as jump infantry. Jump Infantry may run, but not assault if the run. Rippers don't have "fleet" so they can't assault after running.

Excellent. I thought I played that correctly. Sometimes you start to doubt yourself if you hear the opposite opinion enough.
