Hello everyone. I havent played Warhammer 40k since 4th edition first came out, however, a friend recently talked me into playing again. I've decided on Eldar; come up with and army list, and would like to hear any suggestions you may have.

I intend to put the Farseer and a warlock with a DA squad, and 2 warlocks with the Guardian Squads. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The warlocks are a retinue... they can't attach to the DAs.

If you are looking for something to shield the DA, get a large unit of guardians and attach a warlock with conceal. They go in front, the DA get a 4+ cover save for the enemy shooting through the guardians. The guardians get a 5+ cover for the conceal.

Or...

Max out the warlocks, run 10 of them, Farseer with Fortune... and they run the interference for the DA, now you have a 4+ invulnerable with a reroll protecting the DA.

Jeez, didn't see, you are running mech eldar!!!

Okay, forget the guardians and the warlocks. Run 2 Farseers or Asurmen and attach to the DAs.
Or.. Add the 3rd Fire Prism.

If you are looking for one unit to hold an objective, think about a pathfinder squad. Awful hard to root out of terrain for your opponents.

If you use Asurmen and a farseer. Attach them both to one squad. Change that exarch to power weapon and shimmershield but no exarch abilities. Farseer casts Fortune on the squad. Asurmen gives the squad fearless and all the exarch powers.

Hmm, on the charge Farseer gets 3 witchblade attacks, Asurmen gets you 5 S4 PW attacks, Exarch gets you 3 S3 PW attacks.
Defend reduces opponent's attacks by 1 (1 minimum) and the whole squad is getting 5+ invulnerable with rerolls off of the fortune.
Between that and the scorpions, you have great firepower and 2 good hth units.

So drop the guardians, and warlocks, add Asurmen and some pathfinders...

Sounds Like a plan I'll try to rework it tomorrow.

Make sure you go Doom and Fortune. With your army, you aren't going to benifit too much from guide anyways.

DA's hit 2/3. Guid makes it 8/9. So full squad would be 32 shots... 21 hits with out. 29 hits with...

Fortune will keep that squad alive...

Say you are facing 5 termies with 2 lightning claws.

Asurmen gets 5 attacks, hits 3 times, with doom, wounds 2 times. Exarch hits twice wounds once. 2 dead.
Farseer wounds twice and the 9 DAs should wound 5 times. So you should kill 1 more.

2 termies hit back. 4 attacks (-2 because of Defend) and should hit and wound twice. you should save at least one of the attacks.

1 dead DA, 3 dead termies. That without you unloading on him first!!! I think you can get most things off an objective with just that unit.

Well, its a semi-mech list. Better go for a fully mech list.
For this, drop the two Guardian squads and replace it by a Storm Guardian squads with two flamers mounted in a Serpent. Moreover, drop the Warlocks and replace them by an Autarch. In that way, you benefit from his strategical excellence when you keep the army in reserve.

Drop the Farseer and Asurmen in with the third group of Dire Avengers. Look more competitve? When I dropped the warlocks, and guardians that left me with 310 points, add Asurmen leaves 80 points. This is where the warwalker comes from. Im not sure that was the best choice for 80 points. Again Im open to suggestions, and or criticisms. What armies might I have trouble with? How can I minimize these troubles. Are Storm Guardians worth it? Why storm guardians as opposed to normal guardians?

Oh and one thing about my playstyle, I like to shoot lots of bullets
