I have been looking around and have noticed that not many people take any mega-armoured nobs, why is that? i have found that they are almost unstoppable, so weres the love?

2 wounds and a 2+ armour save plus klaw and twin shoota as standard. and if you have the points grotsnik and cybork bodies, a real killer. plus you can take a battlewagon and they can count as troops.

So why dont people take them?

Ouch, that hurt.

lol, wait I have six nobs... they just don't have mega armour or cybork bodies...

God, there were so many jokes I got when I told everyone I bought I pack of nobs... I think if I ever get any mega armoured, I'll keep it to myself...

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Put them in a Ramshackle Trukk and give them a Bosspole. Ghaz makes them even better (6" Waaagh!).

I don't know about your local area but the guys at the Waaagh! like them in small squads, or the big squad with Ghaz is always popular. At 40 points each they are great if you bring a Bosspole.

Number one thing about them, they are expensive per model, similiar to Wraithguard and unlike plastic Terminators.

Their disadvantage is their slow speed, Difficult terrain in both movement and assault. But they are useful counter-charge in shooty/ static lists. As footsloggers. Especially against Walkers and MC.

The beast of Arrageddon and 9 mega-armour nobs in a battlewagon would be a real killer

Other disadvantages are:

* no invuln save unless you take Grotsnik (very expensive)

* instant death to S8+ weapons, so a powerfist in assault can make a mess of them quickly

* low leadership and no bosspole option so you have to attach an IC to give them some backbone

For all that I love them and always run 4 in a trukk with a MA warboss. They kill everything... Except Dreadnoughts. And possibly the odd Monstrous Creature with S8 and I2+.

I can't see using them; a canny player will strand them in a disadvantageous place, or shoot them with lascannons or stronger, or both... Biker Nobs are pricier, but actually survive better, strangely enough, and aren't held hostage by a couple plastic polyhedrons with an attitude.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

i take them in a squad of 3, with each different wargear. Then add a mega warboss. This allows you to spread wounds out, and you can assign the instant death wounds from shooting to the boss, since he is T5. This unit will pretty much eat up anything you throw it against if put in a truk or maybe a cheap battle wagon. Costly, but it is effective and fun. Biker Nobs are better (but even costlier) but they aren't as much fun.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I like them, and if I wanted nobz, which is a questionable decision, it is not a bad buy to pay 20pts extra for what you get, after all it costs five points more for klaw alone and five points less for a twin shoota, 'eavy armour and big choppa.

So it looks like a bargain.

However you do miss out on cybork, docs (without Grotsnik) and Waargh banner, and more critically are much slower. Some troops like Slow and Purposeful, those with rapid fire weapons and good BS, orks have neither. This becomes a problem, but not one that cant be overcome with transports.

All in all Meganobz are on a rough par with nobz. the main difference is that with good armour but no invulnerable Meganobz fall to power weapons, especially the fist, wheras the nobz can get a save against both, at a price.

I have never ben one to see good value in docs and cybork, you pay so much for both and the de facto fist save still fails over half the time. I would just add more nobz, then come to the conclusion that more nobz means spending the points instead on more boyz.

Meganobz at least do something different, they punish opponents who go so 'anti-horde' they cut back on Termie killing weaponry. Because of their two wounds, which for one does mean something going for them, walking Meganobz can walk through torrents of weapons fire up to but not including las/plas. as armies switch out las/plas for autocannon and heravy bolter spam more ansd more, Meganobz can step in to punish tailored lists.

While noone is going to drop lascannon entirely if they can take them a marching ork army with enough raw boyz to screen your meganobz this firepower could end up being very inefficiently used.

I think the main disadvantage of Meganobz has nothing to do with the code and everything to do with availability. Anyone in the game as access to five or more nobz, need them or not, want them or not. Meganobz cost £8 each the price hike.

I think Orlanth has it just about right. I intend to use 5 Meganobz, mostly because I want to use counts as biggerized chaos terminators for them, which with bitz still works out cheaper than actual mega nobz

meh, IMHO MANZ are way too slow and run too easy to be a reliable buy. Even if they get where they want to go, most troops can outrun them, and most balanced armies pack at least a few ap 2 weapons for negating FnP and popping termies. Yes, they will kill almost anything they can smash into, but then they are left stranded out in the open, with their transport blown sky high (90% of the time), and getting shot at by every ap 2 gun your opponent's army has. Either that or they are completely ignored cause his army's faster and can just avoid them.

The only reliable way i see to use MANZ is to give them either a mega-armored warboss or ghazzie and run them in a battlewagon. Personally, i'll take biker nobz with painboy over them anyday.

Why didnt I think of this? The answer was staring me in the face:

LOOTED TERMIES.

Boyz bitz, and conversions of black reach nobs and termie bits.
