I was torn between starting a SM army or an ork army.

I picked orks, I just love them.

Now, the part I need help with is you guys giving me a general idea what I'll be needing, like HQ troops and how to paint those orks and yada yada yada.

THanks for readin'!

have you painted anything,

why did you pick orks/ how do you like to play?

A gun is a medium, a bullet a brush.

Well Assault on Black reach X 2 gives you 40 orks 6 koptas, 10 nobs and 2 bosses. That is a nice core of 750 to 1000 points... (better at 750).

From then on it is up to you. Want armour? take a Battlewagon or 2 to transport the boys. Take a trukk for the nobs.... Want to really slog it? take more boys (get 2 or 3 boxes of boys and build shootas, for variation and Firepower.) If you slog a mek with KFF might come in handy...

From 1000 points upwards do the same. Add what you like, but stick to the theme. Slogging or armour. Hybrid is possible, but is a lot more difficult to use right...

Also remember that koptas, buggies and kans are you're only SemiReliable way of killing tanks outside off combat. Use them well and they won't dissapoint...

any other questions?? Ask and I (or another Dakkite) will be happy to answer.

For painting tips you can check various threads. Mine is included in the link in my signature...

Good luck with feeling Green....
