So I'm working on the some models with a lot of wounds and well...I know that the easy way of painting that is by doing it red. But how do I get a realistic blood colour? As in what highlights/shades/drybrushing and all that fancy stuff would I need to go to make it look real, gross and wet?

And now to make it even more complicated, how to make the guts look blue with turquoise blood?

For blood I I just take some red gore, slap it onto the model, and cover with some 50/50 red gore and blood red. for guts...the Typhus way.

paint red gore
highlight blood red
wash with red ink

and if it needs to look more fleshy follow that then add this:

highlight tenticle pink
wash with magenta ink
fine highlight with tenticle pink mixed with skull white (50/50 mix)
