This Is the standard list I run for 1500 points. Do you think I should add or remove anything?

This list has a record of 6-1-3, but not vs. amazing opponents or army lists. What army/list should I watch out for?

Remove the Melta gun, Sharpshooters and Powerfist from the HQ, reduce the leader from HSO to a JO with Honorifica to give him same stats as a HSO but 5 points cheaper.
Ditch their Chimera too.
Drop the ratlings, 110 points can be spent better else where.
Drop the Honorifica from the Platoon HQ as well as the powersword and melta bombs, load up with another 3 Melta guns and have this unit drop in using Deep Strike doctrine.
I would consider removing the melta guns from the line squads, put some Autocannons in instead.
Take off the Smoke launchers, extra armour and track guards from your tanks.

With the spare points, buy either hardend veterans with melta guns or more line squads.

The point of having this officer as a senior officer, is so that I can have a 3 wound character to capture and hold objectives.
Good call for the sharpsooter and melta gun though.

These ratlings are for taking down Carnifexes, Wraithlords, and Nightbringers. I have not yet found another effective option for fighting those big monsters.

To me, that is a waste of a possible LD 9 radius that is a scoring unit, and yeilds 2 kill points. Junior officer suicide teams were more worth it in 4th.
Dexy wrote:I would consider removing the melta guns from the line squads, put some Autocannons in instead.

If I do that, I loose a number of things. I loose 5 points per replacement, I loose mobility, I loose the luxery of being able to go to ground without consequence, and I loose a deep strike deterent. To me, the autocannon is not a better choice for the line squad.

Ithink extra armor is important for the Demolisher, but you're right for the rest.

Really good Idea, thank you.

Getting your platoon within melta range of anything worth meltaing is suicide.

I think heavy bolters are better than autocannons. Correct me if I'm wrong.

i like two autos and a hb in my fire support. Gives some ability to take down light armor and still gives you 7 shots overall for infantry.

As far as meltas go, i would take plasma, even deep striking itl be hard to be in range of a vehicle unless you are perfect with your deep strike.

This weekend i played a full deep strike troops force, loaded with flamers against marines. Helps to auto hit against tac squads then lay into them with 17 flashlight shots. I never take extra armor, its pretty useless. Most vehicle upgrades are lame.

- Sniper rifles make the ratlings handy little buggers, hitting 3+, wounding 4+, rending and pinning. Also, with the abundance of cover found in the new edition, with minimal fuss and folly you can get them 3+ cover saves. If you're not hurting for doctrines (I see him using Sharpshooters and Iron Discipline, leaving three to play with), I see no problem with it. Were it not for the impending new edition and possible loss of ratlings, I might invest in a blister or two as an option.

- Autocannons do front armor 12. Heavy bolters tickle front armor 11. I'll trade an extra shot to have a chance to do me some armor.

- Splitting the focus of the fire support squads (two autocannons and one heavy bolter) works out okay if you're taking on infantry, but if you must Strength 6 to ride the AV 12 ride the heavy bolter's useless. I'd rather have a defined focus for a squad, as opposed to weakening it by trying to mend its weaknesses.

- Personally, I like to deal with the guard issue with voxmen - a master vox at 25 points in the HQ plus +5 points an infantry unit gives your men a leadership 9 where ever they are on the board, so long as voxman and your senior officer live. I realize it is more expensive than officer bubbles, so maybe just a mortar team in with your senior, and drop the power fist.
