Does the Inferno Canno ignore Cover saves?

I thought it did, but I cant find that rule anywhere at all...

Is the Hellhound worth taking in a 1750-1850pt game?

any weapon that uses the flamer shaped template ignores cover saves. pg 29 of the rulebook.

The nice thing about hellhounds, is you don't have to be right near the enemy to use it, and are therefore out of the dreaded 6" melta-strike of doom. On the one hand, you do have to go through with the roll to hit stuff, but on the other hand the template does not need to be in a straight line out from the hellhound, you can turn and face it however you like to maximize hits.

I particularly enjoy watching an ork player's face when his 30 boys w/ mek+kustom forcefield get 24" or so from my gunline, laughing to himself at his 5+ cover against my heavy bolters. Then my turn rolls around, the hellhound scoots up 6", then dumps a template on 'em, killing 7 or 8. Lootas, Fire Warriors and Eldar Rangers all eat inferno cannons like crazy.

I find LR Demolishers and Hellhounds work extremely well together. Both have similar ranges, you should always move both 6" every turn, and use the Demolisher's 14/13 front/side AV to shelter the hellhound(s) from the heavier firepower. Or if you're facing a nasty lascannon raider, you put the hellhound in front of the demolisher, pop smoke, then waste the raider with the S10 Ord. Anything in cover eats flamers, anything out eats demolishers. Or you can just put a hellhound in the middle of your gunline, and tankshock/flame anyone who threatens you.

Note: from my experience, Hellhounds are earlier targets for enemy fire, precisely because your Pup flings a flamer template 24 inches at their troop choice on an objective, ignoring all their hardly earned cover saves.

I find the hellhound, when deployed by itself, gives your other tanks another round or two before they start to deal with the high strength weapons out of the peanut gallery.
