I REALLY don't need to start a new faction, but I keep thinking about a POM Reznik list, and I just need to get this out of my system.
Reznik
-Crusader
-Devout
-Revenger
Zealots (can be swapped for Hierophant and Paladin of the Wall)
Max Choir
Vassal
3 Wracks
8x Flameguard +UA
C&C invited.

With the spell Brand I'd be tempted to run two heavy Jacks or just more jack heavy in general. Also Zealots to me w/the Menofex dude and the reclaimer seem like the best POW has to offer. TFG not so much...
I'm just about to start painting my Pirates, 1500pts of Khador is almost done, but after that Reznik!!!

The problem with running Zealots with light command (no Monolith Bearer and no
decent Commander units) is that everyone is going to try to pop the Warpriest, and
when he goes they become CMD 4. Reznik isn't much better at CMD 8 (I think?).
The Temple Flameguard is not a bad choice, Beefheart. They just need to be used
properly. With the UA, they become an effective brick, soaking up damage and
incoming fire. With CMA AND ranking attack, you can effectively get 6 TFG into a
single attack and still retain shieldwall. POW 16 that sets things on fire that all but
auto-hit is not a bad thing.
But they're not there to kill things. TFG are a speedbump. Anything they actually
kill is a bonus.
The reason you see more Zealots with Monolith Bearer is because they can serve
the same purpose, as a speedbump. On the plus side, they can kill anything they
can actually hit with a RAT 6 (4+2 from the Priest's Fervor *action), AND they're
cheaper overall. It's quite common to see people who don't know what else to
put in their army to start with TFG+UA, Zealots +UA and Idrians +UA (but Idrians
are another story).
How do you expect to use Reznik, Yair?
The Crusader has always been problematic for me because of its SPD 4, but it's
our cheapest heavy so I can see its appeal. The Revenger is useful for getting
Brand on a necessary model. The Devout is necessary for protecting Reznik as
his base size makes him visible over the heads of even a shieldwalled unit of
Flameguard.
But anything you change the Crusader to ups the price. One idea would be to swap
the TFG + UA to Zealots + UA, and see if you can fit in Fire of Salvation in place of
the Crusader and Gorman (I don't know if its possible). Why Gorman? That dang
medium base. Devout + Smoke grenade should be enough to keep Reznik safe
long enough for him to Wrack somebody.
And about those Wracks. Perhaps two would be the maximum, unless you intend
to start spellcasting early and often. First of all, Wrack placement will be tricky
since they determine their usefulness. If you deploy them too far out, you telegraph
that your warcaster might head out in that direction in order to keep it in his CTRL
area. If you deploy them too close, a savvy opponent will try to explode one on you
with a deviating AOE or spell attack. You'll also want to save the third one in case
someone leaves you an opening for Reznik to Wrack em.

Thanks for the comments, guys! Crusader is there mostly because I like the model, but I was thinking of switching to a Guardian. I'm not so worried about the speed with Witch Hound, Zealot's Rage (chg +5") and Perdition (extra move) and, if necessary, Enliven from the Vassal (extra move if hit with enemy damage). He has so many extra ways to get the boys in it's just scary. Not as scary as Vlad (who freaks folk out with Khador's slow-@$$ 4" move), but scary enough. Revenger is in for the +2 on the charge (helpful with Reznik's Zealot's Rage) and the arc node. Devout is there because, um, it's a Devout, and while Reznik isn't a weakling (DEF 14/ARM 17) everyone can use a bodyguard. The wracks were there as filler. Frankly, Reznik needs them less, especially with a Hierophant reducing focus cost on spells and a Vassal (Ancillary Attack). His ability to wrack slain opponents (zero focus, but still) is a nice trick. Choir is there for obvious reasons. I'm more inclined to keep the Flameguard, which is relatively self-sufficient as a unit, than the zealots, which were there as filler, and go with the hierophant instead. I guess a better question would be: how would you construct a decent, take-all-comers Reznik 'jack-intense list? Another try (EDIT: I like Malfred's suggestions) 497/500 Reznik -Hierophant WA -Crusader -Devout -Revenger Vassal 8x TFG+UA Choir 1 Wrack Gorman di Wulf

Reznik's wrack ability seems iffy. Creating a wrack with no focus is just inviting the enemy to blow it up in reznik's face, isn't it?

Don't worry, I won't report you
You can place it within 3" of Reznick, the explosion reaches out 2.5" from its
center. You can easily position it so he won't get caught in the blast.

Ah, so he doesn't plant a wrack and string you up on it like I thought [I envisioned it that he placed it right where the enemy model died], he strings you up then hurls you lawn dart-style to imbed in the ground some distance away! Nice.
I envision such dirty tactics as enshrining someone on a wrack, tossing it 3" away amidst other enemy troopers, and then using something else to shoot the wrack and blow it up to kill further enemies. Is this possible or is there a rule that keeps the wrack from becoming a target until later?

Perfectly legal.
Since it starts without Focus, it can be targeted. It's stationary, so you can easily
hit it with anything (including the Executioner's spells, lol).
Plant it in the midst of enemies (assuming you can fit the base), cast Perdition on it,
trigger the AOE and then move one of Reznik's battlegroup models up (or use it to
move Reznik away from a counter-attack!)
Fun.
