Rokits are ap3 and can pop most tanks. Antitank is a problem for the boyz why waste an oppertunitie to cary a giant explosive! Many prefer the Big Shoota because of the range and the number of shots. I just think that killing large groups of infantry is better done with a choppa then a gun. Of course that is a personal bias.

I have six deffkopta's with the rokkits, all unassembled so i'll let you know once they get on the battlefield, i'm thinking of fielding two units of three with rokkts to give my speed freaks a bit of punch, but shoota's would also be great, cheaper plus a lot more shots to miss with!! joy.

Big shootas for the boyz for sure, deff koptas depends on their roll.

Boyz Mobs take the Big Shootas. Rokkits are way too unreliable at hitting and frequently waste 27 other model's shooting abilities if you try to go anti-armor with that. Leave the massed anti-tank shooting to the Lootas and crack the super-heavy armor (AV14) with charging Power Klaws or the like.

incidentaly you should always give your mobs of boys rokkits if you have the points because its hard for a mob to kill tanks and MC at range. there will be times when you wont be able to shoot at any juicy infantry and youll wish you had rokkits. rokkits also help no end when killing plague marines and other things with FNP.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

Personally i have mobs of slugga boys with rokkits as it adds anti tank/MEQ and poses a threat as well as looks cool, i leave the big shootas in the shoota boyz mob

i would mix and match with boyz (mainly rokkits) but with the koptas i allways go with rokkits.
simply because TL rokkits are great for tank hunting, mixed with the mobility of the kopta makes them a great unit.

It depends on the size of your squad. Because you can't min/max anymore, if you have enough boyz to take 3 rokkits, then do so... rokkits are great when they hit.

If you've got trukk boyz or just smaller squads don't bother, stick to the big shoota, as with only one or two rokkit shots you just aren't going to roll enough fives or sixes often enough.

Use Lootas, tankbustas, rokkit buggies or rokkit koptas instead. Also, Rokkits on a Kan = win if you can make your Kans live long enough to get in range. Rokkits on a dread = waste of time.

I like rokkit deffkopta's, but for a bit cheaper you can go for the big shootas plus buzz saw, so it depends what you want to do with them.

I used to take rokkits in all my slugga mobs but am moving towards big shootas now. I almost never hit with the rokkits and when I actually do destroy a vehicle with them, it's always one I would have preferred to assault anyway.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Deffkoptas - Rokkits every time. Twin linked and mobility for side armour shots. It is also default weapon.

Shoota mobz - Big shootas, as many as the unit can have. Ups your firepower and complements the shoota.

Slugga mobz - Big shootas or rokkits. Either or or nothing. They dont have any other shooting worthwhile so it is no loss which guns you take, so long as they all have the same. Or take none and run.

Kans - Any of the weapons will do. However I recommend:
1. rokkits for cheapness or megablasta for termie killing
2. grotzooka for massed fire, with blasts there is a limit how far you can miss.
3. skorcha. While Bs3 template is wasted, it is only BS3. Skorchas work beause of where they are. Kans advance with the mobz so you get heavy flamers to support your advance, other skorchas are either light fast vehicle based or single use.

Dont look at the units you need to also look elsewhere at what you could substitute for and where. If you dont take deffkoptas you need rokkikts elsewhere, so rokkits with slugga boys makes sense. Wheras an army with koptas can keep the slugga boyzheaper and run them all the time.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Deffkoptas default is TL Big Shootas, it is just the AoBR ones that are modeled as Rokkits and +15 a model.

Big Shootas or nothing on Boyz. Shoota Boyz prefer Big Shootas for range and more Dakka, and Slugga Boyz are running, Waaagh'ing or CC'ing most of the time to shoot, so I prefer the cheap 5pts Shoota for 3 shots than 10pts for rokkits 1 shot if I must take something with them. Leave the AT for other units, assault a tank with the PK nob if you must take out a vehicle.

Deffkoptas are better with Rokkits, but tbh, 45pts for each is on the expensive side. More PK and Loota I prefer over them.
