looks deadly. It should do well. As for a way to use those 40 points, if you drop a marine or two from each squad, you will make enough points for another DP. A cheap one though.

Another idea, would be to take one more plague marine and then Give personal Icons to all of you plague champs so that you can guide in you obliterators if you choose to deep strike them.

I would trade in powerfists for more Obliterators. There are weapons systems that still can really hurt Plague Marines, rending assault cannons and rending Gene Stealers. (There are probably others, I am not really familiar with the Daemon Codex for example). Against these armies, or mechanized armies your Obliterators really become your mobile element by virtue of either their range, or their ability to deep strike. I think I would try to maximize these vs. having a couple of extra power fist throws at low initiative.

but then my plasma squads are hopeless against land raiders etc and it takes advantage of the low initave.

take all melta instead of plasma, solves the problem and its not that much less killy.

Forget the icons, for the moment.

Looking at your original list, I would:

1) Drop 2 marines and buy another Oblit.

2) Split the 4 Oblits into 2 squads of 2

3) Fill out the left over points with men and then whatever else (icons perhaps?)

About the only disadvantage of taking another Oblit and splitting them is the fact it will give up another kill point.

How do you use your DP; no Rhinos to hide him or to give cover?

either hide him into i need him,big distraction send him towards a HQ,terminators, or things like tanks which will do damage to the plague marines.

Just curious, (I'm thinking of starting Nurgle) why no great unclean one? Does he usually not make himself worth the points?

well for chaos space marines you can only use him as a greater demon, and if you want want proper great unclean and nurgling starting demons.

yeh its changed lots,in the present codex, the demons come in two sizes, lesser and greater, lesser have stats of normal marine but 5+ invulerable only and for 13 they suck. Greater are ok they arrive through sacrificing a champ are 100 points have like ws 8 and 4 wounds.

Since I'm not particularly experienced, all I can say is that I wish I owned an army like that, and Nurgle is badassness incarnate. Good luck though.

... because that totally makes sense.

I suggest getting Rhinos for your troops and dropping at least half of the personal icons and as many Deathguard as necessary. I also think plasma guns are over-rated since you cannot charge after rapid-firing, so you may want to switch those for meltaguns.
