hello there

right as you might be able to tell i need some help/advise on making simple and effective bases. im working on a heavily converted death guard army and i need a cool/simply way of basing them.

i bought the basing kit when the city fight stuff came out, (the one with large chunks of buildings, slate pieces and 'tiny slate' pieces etc etc)

i like the tiny bits of slate and am gonna use this, but on its own it doesnt look quite right. i was thinking of putting on bits of grass etc, but that doesnt really fit wit the whole nurgle, decay thing....i have the GW water effect stuff but im not sure if that will work on the 'ting slate' so i have kinda hit a wall.

any help will be gratefully recieved

many thanks

A nice (and easy!) nurgle scheme is the one they use for the WFB nurgle champion on foot.

1: Put PVA glue on patches of the base, dip in sand (add rocks as an optional extra)
2: When you're happy with the textured areas, paint a layer of PVA on the blank sections (these will become stagnant water - if you want bubbles in the water make a dome with putty/green stuff or cut a small polystyrene ball in half and put this in the 'water' covered with PVA)
3: Paint the textured areas a dark brown or grey, put a lot of contrast on the highlights. Paint the water dark angels green and highlight with catachan green, then give it a couple of coats of gloss varnish.
4: Finally, at the water edges glue some static grass or old brush bristles (as rushes) and drybrush with bleached bone to take out the colour and make it look dead.

Hope this helps!

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?
