well this is my question, it probably has nothing to do with hestan but anyway
i fought an army with 4 squads/vehicles on deepstrike, and his other tactical squads and scouts on reserve.
im a daemon player, he made me go first turn. its possible for him to have NOTHING on the board before i DS in, since i got first turn?

Yes
Using the scenarios from the book, the reserve rule is in effect for all of them. You do not even need to be a Space Marine to do this. Any army can start with all of its units in reserve. In fact it is a well accepted tactic for fighting Demons. It can be a dangerous tactic if you do not have the ability to start pulling in the troops you need right away. This usually works better in the Dawn of War scenario where you can choose to have any units not in reserve enter your board edge at the start of turn one (except of course for Demons, who have their own rules).

half (rounding up) of your drop pods MUST arrive on turn 1, there is no reserve roll for these, they simply arrive that turn.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Indeed Drop Pod Assault works very similar to the way Chaos Deamonic Assault does, and Deathwing Teleport Attack, if not exactly so.

try playing against a Khan / Tigurius combo that can keep everything off the board for 2 even 3 turns with the right rolls
