Played this list versus Orks in a SEIZE GROUND/PITCHED BATTLE @1750 points at a tourney for the final game.

ORKS
Shoota boyz 2x30 w/ PK nob
Choppas boyz 1x30 w/ PK nob & painboss attached

Lootas 1x8
Bike nobz 1x9 w/ PK x3, pain boy
Warboss on bike attached to bike nobz

I decided to go second (drop pod army & objective mission) and deployed the two combat tac ML squads, one by my objective on the back of the table edge, the other flanking it about 24 inches away with Pedro. I figured he would waagh! toward my objective with the bikes and the 30 boyz w/ choppas leaving the 60 boyz and lootas to guard his objective.

Tactically, I had two choices at this point. Defend my objective by deploying the rest of my army and trying to shoot the bikes and 30 boyz w/ painboss, both of which were benefiting from the FNP rule. I didn't think it would happen, so I went for the drop with this plan in mind. Exchange objectives! I would leave the small combat tac squad with my objective as bait, let him run across the board, allowing him to secure that objective with his bikes, drop in behind his garrisoned objective with the 3 sternguard full squads and deathwind, wipe out the lootas and 60 boys with 2-3 rounds of shooting/hth, then dig in around his objective and shoot the 30 boys/bikes from there as they came back. It almost worked like a charm, except that I only killed the 60 shoota boyz, lootas, 15 choppa boyz and 4 bikes. I had only 8 of the sternguard left that did contest his objective with his choopa boyz, but he kept his bikes on my objective. The only thing that saved me from losing both objectives was the remnants of a combat squad that dropped in the middle of the table, I was able to assault his conga line of about 12 choppas and pull them off his objective leaving my sternguard to score it. Time ran out before a sixth turn. We each held the others objective.

This was the first time that I have played orks with this list. I felt that I played too aggressively and was lucky to get the draw. Even though I killed over 90 orks, I left the game feeling I could have done more damage with better tactics. Looking for some advice on how to best fight the horde. Thanks!

In fact, it was a smart move to occupy the 'own' objective by a small unit and go for the 'enemy' objective. This saved you from the Nobz Bikers charging into your drop podders.

You got that right

I was hoping he would go after Kantor and the other tac combat squad at the end, but he was too savvy. I did play extremely cavalier as I was using the game to test the durability and effectiveness of 50 marines versus 110+ orks. Lysander could have performed better in hth, I rolled 4 out of 10 dice during one round of combat, otherwise he would have sent one of the boyz mobz packing.

Spare the points for two heavy flamers per sternguard squad. I think you'll be pleased with the results.
