So since powerfists not getting an additional attack from pistols, is it a bad idea to simply add a combi weapon to the Chamipon squad leaders of Plague Marines or Chosen? If I'm going to take squads with two meltaguns to drive up and pop vehicles, would it be cost effective for that extra shot when I absolutely, positively need something dead? If I wanted a chosen squad with 5 flamers to burn big horde units to death, wouldn't an extra combi flamer help when some big mob absolutely had to die? Yeah, a champion with powerfist and combi-weapon is something like 70 points, but Eldar Exarchs are about that cost.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

I'd go for it. It's dirt cheap and can provide that vital shot for busting a monolith.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

combi-weapons are only good en-masse, on chaos terminators or sternguard to instance. single combi-weapons (especially meltas) are so rarely worth it, but then it does depend on your army list. if guys with meltas are your main source of anti-tank (you should really get something with a bit more range) then by all means give all your champions combi-meltas. otherwise its almost certain that there is something better that you can spend your points on.

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live? |

might aswell go with a power fist, its more than 1 use, and if your close enough to fire a meta at close range (pointless shooting it at long range) then you should be close enough to assult it.

As far as flamer and melta weapons go, I may only get one shot anyway, so I think that the extra 10 points may not be such a bad investment to boost a units firepower for a turn. If a really need a Landraider dead, then an extra melta shot will be much more helpful than a powerfist. And If I face monoliths...well then neither is an issue.
But I was toying with the idea of a chosen squad w/ 5 flamers in either a rhino or outflanking to get really juicy shots on stuff like lootas, guardians, etc. If I had to burn down a 30 strong mob of orks or a big unit of stealers, I'd rather have that extra boost when I know 5 flamers won't do it without leaving (deadly) survivors that will charge my expensive unit.

i like the idea (i am a pyro though, and have made an ork list with over 40 flame weapons)
as you said, its great for mob of 30 boyz, taking salamanders boy might be worth it for twin linked or whatever it is (not a marine play)

If you give the AC a power fist, add a combi-weapon. If he wields a power weapon, go for an extra attack.
