My friend is thinking of taking a few large Conscript Platoons supported by Independent Commissars.

Does the commissar convey a +1 LD bonus to the Conscripts?
The Commissar rule says he give +1 LD to the officer or sergeant of the unit, so i'm assuming no.

Does the commissar execute anyone if a Ld test is failed?
Again, his rules say the officer or sergeant, so i'm assuming no.

Does the commissar give the unit Ld10?
Given that the commissar only takes over the unit after the execution takes place, normally i'd say no.
However, the standard rules for the commissar are for the cases where he is taken as an advisor and must therefore be attached to squads with sergeants, and does not count as an independent character.
But if he is taken as an Independent Commissar he is an independent character and thus would confer Ld10 on the unit as per pg47 of the BGB.

If more than one Commissar is assigned to a unit, and a Ld test on Ld10 is failed, does one Commissar execute the other and the unit continues fighting, lead by the 2nd Commissar?
Because that would be funny.

Also: are conscripts able to take Chem inhalers? A very old FAQ i found stated that Chem Inhalers is only applicable to Guard Infantry; however the latest FAQ has no reference to this.
So technically, if Chem Inhalers are able to be taken by Conscripts does this also indicate that Tanks MUST take chem inhalers?

As far as I can tell, you do not have the choice to attach a commisar to a conscript platoon, they must first go to the HQ command squad, then the normal platoon command squads, then if any are left over may only go to infantry, armoured fist, or storm trooper squads.

If you had independant commisars skill for your army you could however attach them to the squad and grant your conscripts LD10

A commissar will not execute a commissar.

No clue on the chem inhalers, it's poorly written IMO

According to this older FAQ you would not use the Commissar's Leadership until after he executes somebody.

have a look at the SB Book of St. Lucius thread ... it would work out better i think ... book lets any unit withing 6" test at the bearers Unmodified Leadership ... its only 5pts (+45pts for the SoB HQ holding it ... might also want to give her a gun since she doesn't come with one >_<
