As I said in the Ayers thread. If guilty they are terrorists. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander-terminate the mothers.

I wouldn't worry about it. This "plot" to assassinate Senator Obama consists of two, probably socially maladjusted and economically underprivileged, children who planned to somehow rob a gun store ( typically quite secure and often defended by armed proprietors, a pawnshop or a Wal-Mart would be a better idea), shoot some people and somehow get close enough to Mr. Obama to even have a chance at the assassination. Their statements seem to indicate as much self-hate as racism. It is good that they were caught very early in the game, though it probably wasn't difficult.

I'm still on the side of due process BEFORE punishment; that said, I really hope the gov't. has all its procedural and evidentiary ducks in a row on this. Outside of the plot on Obama, which is somewhat understandable as a combination of a black man and the "zionist oppressors" (or some other junk), the plans for premeditated race-based mass murder is utterly reprehensible.

And the fact that they were based here in TN makes me even more uncomfortable than all the crap I catch for my bumper stickers.

I'm guessing the combined IQ of this criminal enterprise was er, 180 max.

See, where they come from doesn't make me the least bit uncomfortable. These sort of kids, unfortunately, exist everywhere. Sure, its reprehensible, but its something that I think should make us look at how kids like this get to this point, rather than just punishing them publicly. That is what is uncomfortable about it.

Terrorism implies some political aim which the violence is a means towards. This seems like a simple case of a couple of stupid racists letting their fantasies run away with them. Presumably it can be prosecuted under conspiracy laws.
