I'm thinking about getting back into some table top gaming with new 5th edition Space Marines. Shrike and the Raven Guard seem pretty cool. Here's a possible list:

HQ
Shrike
Chapter Master - Lightning Claws, Artificer Armour, Jump Pack

TROOPS
5 Scouts - Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher
5 Scouts - Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher

ELITES
Dreadnought - Assault Cannon, Drop Pod
Dreadnought - Assault Cannon, Drop Pod

FAST ATTACK
5 Vanguard Veterans - Power Fist, 4 Power Weapons, Plasma Pistol, Meltabombs, Jump Packs
7 Assault Marines - Power Fist, 2 Plasma Pistols

HEAVY SUPPORT
Predator - Twin Linked Lascannon, Lascannon Sponsons

Any feed-back would be appreciated, thanks. Predator does seem a bit out of theme to me :(.

Well, your army lacks troops since two of three missions are based on troops-only scoring.
I'd drop the Master, since in 1500 pt games two HQs are a bit much.
Moreover, you have drop podded units and fast moving ones. Both do not really fit into one theme. Either go for a drop podded army or an army that can be fully deployed at the beginning.

you need some power armoured troops, scouts will get shot to pieces.
all in all though you need more troops.

Just did a bit more reading, and you're right. Shrike is either operating behind enemy lines (which rules out drop pods and vehicles) or inserting by drop pods (which again rules out vehicles). I've decided to go with the former. Here's a revised list:

HQ
Shrike

TROOPS
8 Marines - Power Weapon
8 Marines - Power Weapon

FAST ATTACK
5 Vanguard Veterans - 4 Power Weapons, 1 Power Fist, Meltabombs, Jump Packs
7 Assault Marines - Power Fist, Plasma Pistol
7 Assault Marines - Power Fist, Plasma Pistol

HEAVY SUPPORT
5 Devastators - 2 Missile Launchers, 2 Lascannons
5 Devastators - 2 Missile Launchers, 2 Lascannons

Once again, advice appreciated.

I wouldn't go with the Vanguard personally. At 35pts a pop basic for something that dies just as easily as any other marine?

They can dish it out but not take it.

I'd go for a third normal assault squad, give them a couple of flamers and put shrike in there and you've got a great anti-infantry unit.

Also, up the tac squads to 10 and those ML's you've got on your dev squads become free. Chuck a flamer in (also free), then you've got more anti-infantry support from the demi-squads while your ML guys hang back on objectives.

I know you don't want vehicles but I'd strongly recommend ditching the (very expensive) dev squads for anti-tank in favour of multi-melta armed attack bikes or land speeders.

just my $0.02

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

I'd stick the Marines into Rhinos and give them flamers and multimeltas.
The two Rhinos could be accompanied by two Assault squads; Vanguard is too expensive as said above.
Dev's are fine but long range weapons have a harder time to pop a tank thanks to the new damage table.
I'd drop them and take Predators that can accompany the Rhinos if necessary.
Then you have room for another squad, like Termies.

wait wait wait wait... huh..?

Vanguard are just too expensive, and they don't live very long.

Even for such small armies, I take 3 troop choices, my rule generally being 1 troop choice per 500 points.

Also, I'd amp up the Tac squads to get some special weapons, and some heavies.

Went for drop pods with 10 man troops choices this time + dreads. Let's try this again

HQ
Shrike

ELITES
Dreadnought - Heavy Flamer, Assault Cannon, Drop Pod
Dreadnought - Heavy Flamer, Assault Cannon, Drop Pod

TROOPS
10 Marines - Power Fist, Flamer, Missile Launcher, Drop Pod
10 Marines - Power Fist, Flamer, Missile Launcher, Drop Pod

FAST ATTACK
7 Assault Marines - Power Fist, Plasma Pistol (Deploy with Shrike)
7 Assault Marines - Power Fist, Plasma Pistol, Drop Pod
7 Assault Marines - Power Fist, Plasma Pistol, Drop Pod

I'm obviously relying heavily on being able to punch other people's tanks.

You still miss troop and I would rather add a melta gun in the 7men assault squad than a power fist. You wont be able to charge when you land and I don't think 7men squad will last long enough to make the power fist sergeant hit anything.
