has anyone used this on vehicles or any thing you can't dip in the can? I just did a practice run on 5 of my black reach termi's, but I have 2 drop pods for my sternguard that won't actually fit in the tiny little can... it talks about a splash on but I don't know how to do it. also if you've tried putting decals on after using the army painter I'd apreciate it.

Well, I helped a friend dip his army this past weekend. What we did was paint on the dip on the big stuff and then step outside and swing the out of it.
As for decals I just called him and he said they worked fine. But its been 3 days since we dipped them.
Hope that helps.

I'm planning to try out some of their stuff for my skinks.. the desert yellow spray and their medium shade. You don't actually have to dip it though, you can just paint it on.. it's just oil based so you will need paint thinner (or is it Minieral spirits?) to clean your brushes. You'll have a lot more control if you brush it on too.. same goes for any other dip like if you wanted to use Minwax.
if you want to do decals though I would think it would be better to put them on before you dip/shade them. It has a bit of varnish in the shade or so I heard, so that will help keep the decals on for good.
Also you might want to look into a matte varnish spray for when it's all done, it will kill any gloss shine that the shades have.

The war store sold out of the anti shine varnish, but there's a gamer at our store that works at a craft store I"m goin gto ask her about getting some anti shine varnish. If anyones used this system on white models I'd apreciate pictures. my army's fluff is an offshoot of the black templar (templar hospitlar white/red detail) are helping with the re construction of the crimson fists. meaning my troops (and their drop pods) tanks and other places in the chapter are white, while my sternguard, pedro, and who ever else is left over each chapter trying to compliment each other. the hospitlar doing close combat while the crimson fists shoot away.

Hey mind if a paint up a model and have you dip it to see the effect, so I don't have to buy the stuff first? I know I'm a cheapo.

It's a system of coloured primers and a Quickshade dip product that lets you pain an army very rapidly. Check out the Army Painter for more details.
I've been using something similar from my local hardware store. It's a polyurethane and stain product called Minwax Polyshade. Results are similar to the Army Painter. I've just finished "dipping" my Imperial Guard you can see the results at: The Dip

You don't really need the army painters anti shine spray if they don't have it.. if you have a hobby store nearby like the kind that sells model cars and trains and stuff like that, they will probably carry Testors paints. Get testors dullcoat spray or look for testors model master flat lacquer.
I dipped my tomb kings in minwax polyshades, the polyurethane coating was very shiney, but I used that flat lacquer spray on them and it totally killed the shine.. gave em a nice dull & dead look It will also take the shine out of your metalic paints but you can probably drybrush some metals back on if you want those parts shiney.

Many thanks... I'm very happy with the results... Even my earliest minis and their so-so paint job looked better after the Dip.
I'm also happy about my pocket book too as the cost was much less.
