does anyone use these for skirmish troops? Seems like a good idea for general movement and you can always take them out of the tray if you want to move into terrain or if you get charged.

I'm planning a skink army and they all skirmish... so I was thinking these would really come in handy. Or would I be better off with magnetic bases and a sheet of metal? I just kind of like how the GF9 it's got the holes cut out and all that stuff...

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I have looked for decent movement trays for 40K and have drawn a blank. The answer is to do your own.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

thing is I like the look of their movement trays.. with the holes cut out and all.. you can flock it and add other stuff and make each one like a mini diorama almost. So that's really the main reason I was thinking about it. But, it would be like $10 for each tray... and with cheapy skinks I'm prolly gonna have a bunch of units...

I tried their magnetic bases for another army and they seem decent. I thought about that, and using the bottom sheet piece as a tray, and the magnets would keep them in place. but it wouldn't look as nice.

then I thought about spending way too much money and getting both.. cut a little square out of the sheet to glue in the hole of the wooden tray, then use the magnetic square bases.. so they don't fall out.

I gotta start playing the powerball...

I use them. They've been slow as of late, shipping items beyond their supposed 2 week
limit. I love the skirmish trays, and I even go so far as to magnetize the bases and insert
metal squares into the tray so that my Wardancers can pretty much hang upside
down.

You can see pictures of painted versions of the trays here:

Some issues with their trays:

Assembly is required (though not for the skirmish ones, obviously)

Sometimes, they're an extremely close fit to the point where paint and varnish
(or maybe oddly made bases) make lining up ranked models impossible.

When using them in a game, skirmish trays take away some of the flexibility of
a skirmish unit as you're rather limited in the unit's positioning.

Skirmish trays make close combat annoying. You have to take the models out to
line them up and put them back, unless your opponent is knowledgeable about
lining up and you can agree at the beginning how many models will be in contact.

i may have to buy some
i play southlands skink, so everything is a skimisher in my army lol.

all i was thinking about doing was buying normal movement trays, the putting empty bases that have been covered with scenery in between the models, so it kind of looks like a chess board.
white are where skinks will be, black are where the scenic bases are or vice versa.

that one looks good too.

I don't think CC will be a big deal.. I mean when something charges me I gotta set up all the guys in a line anyway so I'll be moving them into position to fight. and if most of my unit is dead and there's only 3 or 4 models left I just won't use the trays anymore. It's really just something I'd be using to make the first couple of movement phases go quicker. After using so many guants in my nid army I don't wanna go through moving tons of little models 1 at a time if don't have to

If you contact them, ask about shipping. As I said, I think their demand outpaced their
ability to deliver, which is good and bad I suppose.
