Hello all , Thought i would share with you all my GT weekend. Ive been using necrons for about 4 months now, and decided that i would give them a go at the GT. I played 5 great games, and one that wasn’t really a game..but we’ll come to that later.
So my list was as follows:
The Deciever
7 Pariahs
2 X 10 Warriors
3 Destroyers
4 Destroyers
Monolith
For my own benefit im going to keep a VP killed by the Ctan score Razz
GAME 1: Space wolves
Mission: Capture and control, Dawn of war setup
I lined up this game against a space wolf Drop pod army. Having fought this with necrons in the past, i was fairly confident....karma was going to get me back for this.
His list was:
Rune Priest with Terminator armour, Frost blade, Wolf pelt, Storm caller.
Venerable Dreadnought in a Drop pod with Heavy flamer, assault cannon, Extra armour+Smoke.
3 X 8 Grey hunters with 2 power fists, 2 plasma pistols and a melta gun, in Pods
6 Wolf scouts with melta gun, 2 Plasma pistols
2 X attack bikes with heavy bolters
4 X attack bikes with multi meltas
So the Tables at the GT were a bit poor on the terrain side of things. My opponent Andy won the roll and made me go first. I chose the table side with a ruin just inside my 24 inch zone, and set up my 20 warriors and the Deciever inside, and i left the monolith in deepstrike. I placed my objective inside the ruin with my warriors, while his was on my far right flank, about 6 inches from his edge.
Turn 1
Andy elected not to set up anything, so my 1st turn began, in which my destroyers both boosted onto the table on the far right flank, and my pariahs ran 11 inches towards the central ruin.
Andy brought all of his attack bikes on, boosting on the opposite side away from my 7 destroyers. No shooting was done in this turn.
Turn 2
In my Turn 2 the monolith came down, and i placed it on his objective, but it scattered 7 away towards my left. I again boosted my destroyers forward to his objective. My Pariahs ran another 9 inches towards my central ruin. The deceiver moved slightly and attempted to make a unit of 2 attack bikes run, but he passed the LD test.
In his turn 2, only the pod with a squad of grey hunters containing his Rune priest came down, along with his wolf scouts, which came on directly behind my pariahs. His attack bikes all moved backwards and shot up the Ctan, which along with the Grey hunters who had dropped within 12, caused 2 wounds.
Turn 3
Since my monolith and destroyers were well out of the way, They moved 12 back towards my board edge, and wiped the scouts out in an impressive Gauss display. The monolith moved 6 back towards his objective. My Ctan eagerly moved within charge range of the Rune priest and squad. He tried to make a squad of multi melta bikes run, but again they passed the test.
My pariahs moved 6 and shot at the squad, causing 2 deaths on the grey hunters. My warriors tried some long range pops, and killed one.
So my deceiver assaulted 5 grey hunters and a rune priest. The squad passed its LD test for counter attack, and then the deceiver and rune priest attacked. I directed 3 attacks on the priest, and 2 on the marines. I killed 2 marines but didn’t hit the priest once. In reply, with a mighty 7 attacks, 5 hits were caused. Needing 6’s to wound, 3 wounds were caused, which i promptly failed all of the 4+ invunerables! I was flabbergasted! The deceiver blew up and took the remaining 3 grey hunters with him, but it was a terrible blow very early on for me. The runepriest got a 6 inch massacre move aswell!
In andys turn, the rune priest, having wiped the remains of the Ctan off his frost blade, he moved into assault range of a squad of 10 warriors. Another squad of grey hunters podded in, pretty much next to the last squad, on my left hand flank. The attack bikes all moved inwards and got shots off on my squad of warriors that wasn’t about to be assaulted. Along with the grey hunters, 7 were downed, and the other 3 ran for their lives. I was dreading phase out at this point.
But obviously his rune priest was tired, and only managed to kill one necron from my other squad, who held their ground.
Turn 4
I needed to help out my warriors, so my pariahs and my monolith moved directly 6 towards them, and this was enough to portal them out of combat. They emerged on the far side, and ran 4 inches to within 3 of Andys objective. The destroyers moved to get LOS on the attack bikes, of which i managed to kill 1 heavy bolter and 1 multi melta. My pariahs managed to get an assault off on a squad of MM attack bikes that had strayed a little too close to my central ruin, and took 1 wound off! From 14 attacks! The bikes held.
In andys turn 4, i noticed that the rune priest, standing in my ruin, was within 6 of a pariah. I asked andy if he was a psycher, and if so he would have to take a moral test for being within 6, And at LD 7 since he was within 12 of a pariah, which he promptly failed and fled 9 inches towards his board edge. The squad of grey hunters moved to assault the pariahs after this. The remaining 2 attack bikes shot up some destroyers but did no damage.
In the assault phase, the pariahs were on the receiving end of power fists and angry space wolves, and were reduced to a single model, having killed off an attack bike.
Turn 5
Seeing an opportunity for a bit of sneaky damage, a squad of 3 destroyers turbo boosted to within 6 of the Fleeing Runepriest to prevent him rallying. The other squad moved to within 3 of my own objective. The monolith moved to place itself between the remaining 2 mobile attack bikes and my destroyers, who planted themselves on andys objective. With little shooting, my pariah was then downed and the grey hunters consolidated into my ruin. Not looking good at all.
In andys turn, his venerable dread and squad of grey hunters finally arrived, and both dropped within 3 of his objective, and rolled hits! So the drop pods were contesting. They then both shot at my warriors and downed a couple, but this really didn’t matter. The rune priest decided to leave it up to his brothers, and fled the field.
The grey hunters moved onto my objective in the centre, and then assaulted my destroyers, easily wiping them out and claiming that objective.
We rolled to see if the game would carry on, and rolled turn 6.
Turn 6
To Pull a draw out, i needed to kill 2 drop pods, a venerable dread and 8 grey hunters, with 9 warriors, a monolith and 3 destroyers. I gave it a try, and the monolith blew the venerable dread up with its particle whip in fantastic double 6 style, and the warriors blew away 4 Grey hunters, but it was not enough.
In andys turn, he assaulted my warriors, but the combat was a draw with bad rolling on both sides.
The gamed ended with him controlling 1 objective to my 0. Still was a very fun and tactical game.
RESULT:Loss VP’s:700-1000 ish. Ctan VP’s: 180
GAME 2: Tyranids
Mission: Capture and control, Pitched battle.
Seeing my opponents list made me a bit happier about facing tyranids, with his army being comprised of huge mobs of gaunts, and only 2 Carnifexes and 1 hive tyrant. His list was:
Hive tyrant with Scything talons, Barbed strangler and 2 Tyrant guard.
2 X 6 warriors with Rending claws, 5 Deathspitters and 1 Barbed Strangler.
2 X 10 Hormagaunts with WS5, Inititive 5, Strength 4.
2 X 16 Spinegaunts
1 X 16 Devourer gaunts.
1 Carnifex with Crushing claws, tusked, 5 wounds, Toughness 7.Scything talons.
1 Carnifex with Scything talons, Barbed strangler.
I won the roll for table sides, and deployed my entire army in the right hand corner in a large cover of rocks, except the monolith which went into Deepstrike.
He set up as much as he could close to me, but the 12 inch deployment zone meant he was still across much of the board. His gaunts were screening his warriors, which were screening his big monsters.
Turn 1
In my turn 1 The deceiver ran a mighty 12 inches straight towards his Big Hive tyrant and retinue. My pariahs moved 2 inches to get into 24 inch range, and then i let fly with all my shots that i could, and ended up taking the big squads of spinegaunts down to 5 and 6 models, including a nasty trick from the deceiver where i made the big squad take a LD test, and however much he failed by was the number of Armour saves he took, Since he was fearless. Ended up rolling an 11 and losing 5 gaunts Razz.
His turn one consisted of every single unit rolling a 5 or a 6 on their run, and they were halfway across the board already!. No shooting or assaulting.
Turn 2
So The gaunt hoard was very close to me this turn, but i wasn’t bothered. My monolith deep struck on the far left hand side , nearby to the tyranid players objective. Since my warriors were in long lines, the back squad had one man in portal range, and portaled through to pretty much an empty board. My destroyers moved 12 along the back edge of my board side, while pariahs and the other 10 warriors moved out to meet the gaunts. The deceiver was now easily within charge range of the hive tyrants unit. I switched my shooting to the hormagaunts, and with rapid firing warriors pariahs and destroyers, and the deceivers ablitity, managed to completely wipe them from the table in an impressive gauss light show.
In the assault phase i assaulted the hive tyrant, and managed to kill one tyrant guard with no wounds put on me.
In the tyranids turn, the remaining 11 spinegaunts and unit of 16 devour gaunts moved forward to shoot, aswell as the warriors and barbed strangler fex. The big CC fex moved and ran towards the monolith. The nids then put on a barrage of blast weapons, devourer shots and 3 barbed stranglers, and after all of it, my 10 necrons were still intact. That cant be said of the nearby gaunts, who took a pounding from bad scatters and lost a few of their number. In the assault phase, my squad was assaulted by 7 spinegaunts and 11 devourer gaunts, but easily held their ground, as the gaunts managed to down 2 crons and i put 4 wounds on the devourer gaunts, and then both squads lost the extra guys from combat res. The Deciever decided to leave the combat, and moved 5 inches towards the Carnifex with the barbed strangler. The hive tyrant and 1 tyrant guard moved 6 inches towards my lines.
Turn 3
My turn began well, with both necron warriors standing back up. I had yet to receive a single causalty, so my pariahs moved towards the Hive tyrant, and destroyers continued hugging the board edge to maintain fire. I moved the deceiver in between the carnifex and hive tyrant, in a position to assault either, depending on how shooting went. My monolith drifted 6 in order to block LOS to my other squad of warriors on his objective.
Shooting Went well as my destroyers knocked 3 wounds off of the big nasty fex with crushing claws. My pariahs knocked a single wound off the tyrant guard, and the monoliths particle whip scatters aimlessly off the big fex.
In assault, the pariahs charged the hive tyrant while the deceiver charged the small carnifex. The hive tyrant struck first, along with his guard, and managed to kill 2 pariahs, before the squad was sliced apart by the warscythes.
The Deciever only managed to put 1 wound on the fex, suffering a wound in return.
In the warrior gaunt combat, i managed to kill the remaining gaunts (all 10 of them) but only managed a 2 inch backwards consolidation
In the tyranid turn, the squads of warriors both moved up and charged my 10 man necron squad on my objective, slaughtering them all, and the big fex moved and assaulted my monolith. I was a bit worried at this point, but he just managed to stun the monolith. The deceiver obliterated the fex in 4 hits,4 wounds, and consolidated towards the warriors.
Turn 4
The deceiver moved 6 inches left towards the big fex, while the pariahs moved to assault the warriors on my objective. With no troops remaining, all i had to do was hold my 10 warriors on the tyranid objective, so i moved and shot the carnifex assaulting my monolith with all my destroyers, and just managed to down the beast in another storm of good dice rolls. With that off my mind, and victory secured, i decided not to assault or shoot at the warriors. I didn’t want to gain any more victory points ,as this would have put me higher up the table.
In the Tyranid turn, the remaining 12 warriors assaulted the pariahs and ripped them to shreads.
Turn 5
With nothing left to do, all my destroyers turboed 24 away from the warrior hoard, and the deceiver moved and ran 12 towards my necron warriors. At this point we decided to call the game, since the warriors were about 40 inches away from my necrons, with a monolith in the way.
I felt a bit harsh on the guy, since my army was a horrible one for him to face, and i admired him for taking a fluffy nid army, with gaunts and warriors. Also he couldn’t pass 3+ saves on his Monstrous creatures.
RESULT: WIN VP’s:1160-430 Ctan Vp’s: 330
GAME 3
Mission: Sieze ground on Dawn of war.
Seeing my opponent laying down a really nice imperial guard army, death corps and lots of infantry, i felt really sorry for the guy. It seemed like i got the armies i wanted to play. Anyway, his list was something like this
Command HQ with Heroic officer, Standard.
3 Lascannons with Sharpshooters
3 Autocannons with Sharpshooters
2 X 25 Man platoons, squads with heavy bolters, command sections had one X 4 plasma guns, one had 4X melta guns.
5 Hardened veterans with 2 melta guns, Sergeant with plasma pistol, power weapon.
5 Stormtroopers with 2 plasma, deepstrike.
Hellhound
Leman russ with lascannon, heavy bolter sponsons
Demolisher with heavy bolter
5 Rough riders.
First we rolled 4 loot counters, which ended up with 3 clustered together on the right side of the board, and 1 in some woods on the far left. They were all in one half of the board.
He won the roll for Table sides, and set up 2 X 10 men from the platoon with melta guns in the HQ, and a lascannon team from his HQ platoon. The Heavy bolter squads went in the woods on the right, near the 3 objectives, and the lascannons went in the woods near the 1 objective. This meant i had no objectives in my deployment zone. He placed his other platoon in Reserve, as in coming on turn 2, and his veterans outflanking. His stormtroopers deepstruck
I set up the deceiver on the 24 inch line, basically in the middle of the board, and i set 20 warriors up 18 inches away from his Guard squads on my right. I placed the monolith in deepstrike.
I then proceded to cheese it up and seized the inititive from him, so my turn began
Turn 1
I moved the deceiver directly towards his squads on my right near 3 objectives, and ran 4 inches also. My warriors shuffled forward, making sure to keep them with 5 of each in area terrain, and spread out, since battle cannons kill necrons without a chance to WBB.
My destroyers turbo boosted onto the right flank, near the 3 objectives, and the pariahs walked on behind my warriors, and ran to catch up with them.
The deceiver tested night fight on the closest unit of guardsmen, saw them ,and forced them to take a moral check, which was LD 7 at this point. He failed and they ran from the board.
In the guard turn 1, the leman russ came on basically in the right hand corner, then the hellhound, and the demolisher, with the Rough riders next to that. It seemed that we would ignore the left hand side of the board, so his lascannons moved and ran to a better firing position. His autocannons also came on in this area.
His command platoon with flag came on behind a small hill, in 12 inches of his remaining guard squad.
The rough riders fleeted towards the Ctan 6. The tanks all tryed to shoot necron warriors, but couldn’t see due to the night fight rules.
The Rough riders then passed their moral check and charged the ctan. I don’t think that my opponent was aware of the deceivers rules, since i just left the combat and got a free 2D6 move towards his lines, which i rolled an 11 on, and the riders got to consolidate 5 and got into some cover.
Turn 2
My monolith failed to turn up, so the deceiver moved to assault the demolisher. My destroyers shuffled forward behind the screen of warriors, and my pariahs moved sideways to get some shots off on the rough riders. A squad of warriors sat still with the same idea.
In my shooting phase, thanks to the reroll granted by the flag, and the LD 9 by the officer, the Command platoon was immune to the deceivers talents. The rough riders lost 4 out of 5 to the pariahs and warriors, and my destroyers got their reward and blew the battle cannon off the russ, and shook it in the process.
In the assault phase the Deciever easily blew the demolisher to bits, and caught 4 guardsmen in the blast.
In the Guard turn 2, the hardened veterans outflanked on the right, right behind a squad of destroyers. The remaining infanty platoon turned up, with 4 melta gunners coming in infront of the Ctan, and the other 2 squads came in on the left to claim the uncontested objective.
The hellhound, 4 melta gunners, 4 plasma gunners , The heavy bolter from the remaing squad on this side and the lascannon/autocannon teams all blasted the ctan, and took 2 wounds off of him. Not enough as he rightly said. The hardened vets targeted my 3 destroyers with their meltaguns, but both missed. In the assault phase, the Vetern sergeant went mental on the destroyers, and despite only having 4 attacks and needing 6’s to wound, sliced all 3 of them apart!
Turn 3
The monolith decided to turn up, and i placed it 6 inches away from the full squad of 10 guardsmen near the 3 objectives on the right, and got a hit. A squad of 10 warriors then portaled through. My deceiver was fed up of not being able to make the guard run, so moved to assault the Command HQ. My 4 remaining destroyers flew 12 inches forward away from the power weapon wielding maniac in the hardened vets squad, and the pariahs moved backwards to get some shots off on this squad. The other 10 warriors also moved into rapid fire range.
Needless to say the 5 veterns were all killed, and the destroyers managed to immobilise and shake the leman russ with no battle cannon. The Deciever then assaulted the command squad and wiped them out, along with the LD bubble and pesky flag, and my warriors assaulted and wiped out the squad of 10 guardsmen, leaving just the hellhound and wounded russ on the right hand side. My monolith gauss flux in an impressive display killed the remaing rough rider and both 5 man command squads full of heavy weapons.
The guard turn was brief, with the 3 lascannons, 3 autocannons and 2 heavy bolters on the left taking another wound from the deceiver. The hellhound shot all its weapons at the necron warriors that had portalled through, but did nothing.
Turn 4
I portaled my other squad of warriors through the monolith, and both squads moved and ran to capture an objective each. The 4 destroyers moved next to the russ, ready to assault it if necessary to kill it. The deceiver ran towards the left side with the lascannons etc. The pariahs moved round to get some shots off on the hellhound.
I managed to shake the hellhound with my shooting, and the Destroyers blew a lascannon off the immobile russ, leaving it with 2 heavy bolters. The deceiver forced the lascannon team to fall back, but not off the board just yet. He also ran a mighty 5 towards the autocannon team. In the assault, my destroyers still could not destroy the russ, just shaking it.
The guard turn consisted of again blasting the Ctan with all available weapons. The lascannons failed to rally and fled the field, and the hellhound tank shocked a squad of warriors and sat on the objective. This meant at the moment it was 1-1. The ctan emerged on 1 wound remaining.
Turn 5
I was worried at this point, so i moved the monolith back 6, and turned the portal and moved the warriors who were not claiming an objective thanks to the hellhound through, onto the uncontested objective on that side. My Destroyers flew in behind the hellhound, to prevent the same trick from happening again.
The Deciever made yet another squad of guardsmen run from the board, since my opponent could not pass LD 7 tests. He then assaulted and destroyed the autocannon team. The destroyers thankfully immobilised the Hellhound with rear armour shots.
The Guard turn was mearly one heavy bolter at the Ctan, which did nothing, and the heavy bolters on the russ killing 1 pariah.
Thankfully the game ended, since i already felt bad for the guy.
RESULT: WIN VP’S 1300-300 Ctan Vp’s: 700
So At the end of the first day, i was on 2 wins and a loss, with a total of about 3200. Halfway to qualification . The ctan was already on 1310 vps.
Will post the second day soon, since it takes aggges to write all this. Hope someone reads it all

DAY 2
Since alot of us went down to this years GT, and we are all now 18 or older, AND one of our team is getting married soon, we went on a night out in Nottingham. So i got to the GT in the morning feeling terrible, having had one too many zambucas. Anyway, onto the games. I was aiming to get two wins, and i expected 2 kill point games, aiming to win those.
GAME 4: Chaos Daemons
Mission: Annihalation on Spearhead deployment.
I lined up this morning against a daemon army i had looked at the day before. All of the models were counts as, such as resin forgeworld traitor guardsmen or something as his horrors, Warhammer spiders as his Seekers of slaanesh. This army also included the fateweaver, who i had heard the rules of the previous day, and i had a plan.
His list was as follows:
Fateweaver
Bloodthirster
5 Seekers of slaanesh
1 Bloodcrusher
9 Pink horrors with bolt of change
8 Pink horrors with bolt of change, the Changling
8 Bloodletters
8 Daemonettes
Daemon prince with Iron hide, some other stuff.
I won the roll and chose to set up and go first. There was a small tau dome thing in the middle of the board, and two Huge woods on the same side, basically one in each quarter. I picked this side, and set up in the right hand quarter. I set up the pariahs inside the wood, as far forward as i could. The two squads of warriors were then placed behind the pariahs, in long lines towards my monolith, which was filling the gap between the two woods, and was about halfway along my board edge. I faced the portal away from my troops, towards the empty quarter. The destroyers were placed outside the wood, behind it and spread out to fill the space in my quarter. The deceiver sat inside the woods in a central position, ready to move wherever daemons arrived.
The daemon player didn’t try to sieze.
Turn 1
I did nothing in my turn 1, happy with my setup.
In the daemon turn 1, he got his choice of wave, which was the bloodthirster, the fateweaver, the bloodletters, and the squad of horrors with the changling. The fateweaver came in in the quarter above mine, basically where id forced him to go, and landed in the clear space, on target. The rest of his army rolled alot of hits, and came in all within 6 of the fateweaver, except the bloodthirster, which scattered towards his board edge about 9 inches.
The Fateweaver then attempted to shoot some warriors, but they passed their cover saves. The bloodthirster ran back 2 towards my army.
Turn 2
Firstly i moved the squad of warriors in the woods that was closest to his army through my monolith portal, and then since neither had moved i then moved 6 and ran 5 directly left along my board edge. The pariahs rolled a 5 and moved directly for the fateweaver, well within range for my plan.
The destroyers all flew around to get LOS on the fateweaver. The other squad of warriors moved backwards . The Deceiver moved and ran towards the daemon army.
In my shooting, the pariahs put 4 wounds on the fateweaver, but he passed all of his rerollable invunerables. Then my destroyers put 11 wounds on him, and he failed one save. I then pointed out to him that he was within 12 of a pariah, so his LD was now 7, and he rolled an 8 and fateweaver went back Screaming to the warp, banished by the necron anti psycher troops.
Obviously i was pleased with this, and ended my turn.
The Daemon player was still dazed by the fateweavers departure, but he had some pariahs sat infront of his army, and so moved the Bloodletters towards them. His daemon prince arrived from reserved, and landed with a hit right outside my wood. He then used Pavane of slaanesh to move my pariahs towards his bloodletters, well within charge range. The bloodthirster flew to within charge range of the deceiver, as did the seekers of slaanesh.
His horrors moved and shot at my Ctan, failing to wound with the bolt of change. My Pariahs were then all torn apart by the bloodletters, and they consolidated into my wood. The Bloodthirster and Seekers charged the deceiver, who then left the combat and moved 5. The units both consolidated poorly, with the seekers managing to make it into some rubble.
Turn 3
Firstly i portalled my second squad of warriors through the monolith, and moved them 6 and ran them along with the first squad, so they were now behind the second huge wood on my left. The monolith, with its job done, moved 6 to flux some bloodletters. The deceiver readied himself to charge the bloodthirster. My destroyers flew again to the left to get LOS on those seekers.
My shooting was pretty good, as i blew away a full 3 seekers, leaving 2 in the squad with my destroyers. The monolith killed 2 bloodletters with its fluxarcs. The deceiver charged into the bloodthirster, and put 2 wounds on him, taking no in return. He took a further wound from combat res.
In the daemon players turn The daemonettes and the bloodcrusher finally saw my plan, and came in on the left near my 20 warriors. The daemonettes went risky and came in inside the woods, but took no wounds.
The 2 seekers moved to charge the deceiver, and the daemon prince shuffled and ran through the woods a total of 4 inches towards my monolith. The daemonettes and bloodcrusher ran a bit to get in better positions after their deepstrike. The horror unit with the changeling moved to try and get a shot on my monolith, which failed to do anything.
In combat, i thought that i could take 2 seekers charging, and stayed to kill the bloodthirster, which i did easily. The bloodthirster and seekers failed to do any damage, but the seeker made its save for combat res.
Turn 4
My turn 4 was important, as i had to make sure i killed the blood crusher and all of the daemonettes, so my 20 warriors moved to rapid fire on the daemonettes, who despite their 4+ cover saves were obliterated. The blood crushed took all 7 destroyers and only took 1 wound! I was worried, but the monolith saved the day with its gauss flux arcs, finally putting the monster down.
In combat, with an impressive display the deceiver got all his and all wound on the seekers, killing them all without taking a wound, and consolidated 6 towards the daemon prince on foot.
In the daemon turn, the remaining unit of horrors came on in a position to shoot my warriors on the left, but because of the wood they were pretty close to the warriors. The remaining daemon prince again fluffed his Difficult terrain and run, managing 8 inches, but not enough to take it out of charge range of the deceiver. The horrors and the changling tryed to shoot down the destroyers, but missed with the bolt of change and were out of range for warpfire.
The other squad of horrors shot at my warriors, killing one outright with the bolt and downing a further 3.
Turn 5
Determined to wipe the daemons out, i moved my destroyers to fire on the horrors with the changeling, making sure to stay out of 24 of him. The other warriors got 1 WBB, and i readied the monolith and warriors to kill the other horrors.
I wiped out the squad of horrors near my army, and knocked the other squad down to just the bolt of change.
The deceiver charged and easily killed the daemon prince.
The daemon player shot his 1 remaining horror at the deceiver but again missed, and the game ended.
I felt a tad harsh on the guy, since it must have been a terrible game for him, but i had a plan and stuck to it.
RESULT: WIN VP’s:1420-252 KP 8-1 Ctan vps: 470
GAME 4: Chaos space marines
Mission: Seize Ground on Spearhead deployment
Since i only needed one more win, i wasn’t that upset about facing 9 oblits, nurgle marines and 2 lash Daemon princes. At least it wasn’t kill points, as i would have lost that and not had such a good chance at winning my last game.
His list was
2 X Daemon prince with lash of submission, Winged, mark of slaanesh.
2 X 6 Plague marines with 2 plasma guns.
6 Noise marines all with sonic blasters
3 X 3 Obliterators
We rolled for objectives, and got 4. I placed on in the bottom left quarter, and one in the middle, while his 2 were placed in the top left quarter. He won the roll for table quarters, and put me in the quarter with one tiny piece of area terrain. I chose to keep both squads of warriors in reserve, and put the monolith in deepstrike. He basically castled in his quarter, with the troops all in a nice bit of terrain holding two objectives between them. His 9 oblits were in one wood, and the lash princes flanking them.
I set up my pariahs and the deceiver behind a piece of LOS blocking Impassible terrain, hiding from the oblits. The destroyers were set up behind my little piece of cover, well out of lash range.
I failed to seize the inititive.
Turn 1
He Flew his daemon princes either side of the impassible terrain to get views on my Ctan and pariahs hiding there, and sat still with everything else. He lashed the deceiver away from his army 10 inches, and rolled a 7 on the pariahs, which was enough to bunch them in the open in LOS of the oblits. He took a wound from perils in the process. 3 plasma cannons later and all my pariahs were dead. He then sniped a destroyer with his remaining 6 lascannons.
In my turn one, the destroyer made its WBB, and noticing the Daemon prince on the left was on 3 wounds, i moved into range and blew it away. The deceiver ran 9 towards the daemon prince, and made him take a LD test, which he passed.
Turn 2
In His turn 2, his lascannons downed 5 destroyers, and the daemon prince lashed my Ctan another 10 backwards!!!
In my turn 2, the monolith and both squads came on. I placed my warriors in a risky move, within rapid fire range of his daemon prince. I reconed that 40 shots+ What i had left of my destroyers would be enough. Only 1 Destroyer WBB, and my monolith scattered 10 inches from where i placed it so i couldn’t portal the squad, which was now a big squad of 7, but with only 3 having made their WBB’s!
In a deft display of fluffing their roles, the warriors only took 2 wounds on the daemon prince, and the destroyers a further one. The monolith tryed its particle whip, but it scattered into empty space. The deceiver even tryed to make him Die from a moral check, which he passed.
Turn 3
I was spread out quite well with my warriors, so his Daemon prince moved to the side of one unit, and lashed them so that they moved 8 inches away from the other unit, a very clever move. The oblits then shot 6 plasma cannons at the unlashed unit, which downed 8 of them, and the daemon prince assaulted and easily wiped out the 10 necron warriors.
So my turn 3 i needed 3 necron warriors out of 8 to WBB, but the dice had given me a kick in the balls this game, and i failed 6 of them. Out of monolith portal range by about 2 inches., i phased out.
This game took about 30 mins, and i really couldn’t have cared against 2 lash and 9 oblits. What are you going to do eh.
RESULT: LOSS VP’s: 225-1500 Ctan vps’: 0
Game 6: Daemons of chaos
So i needed to win my last game, and i was pretty happy to again see me placed against daemons. Since i knew the last game was going to be kill points on Pitched battle, i was confident that my plan that had working in the morning could work again.
Mission: Annihalation on Pitched battle
My opponent was a sound guy, and i felt a bit bad for how the game went afterwards, but i wanted to qualify and needed a win to secure it. His list was:
2 X Bloodthirster
2 Bloodcrushers in a single unit.
2 X 8 Bloodletters
1 X 7 plaguebearers.
2 X Daemon prince with Wings, Iron hide, The shooting power that is 3 shots at Strength 5 AP3.
1 X Daemon prince with Iron hide, Mark of nurgle, Noxious touch.
I won the roll for table sides, and again i picked the side with lots of area terrain in one half. I them deployed my warriors in a long line across the left side of my 12 inches, with pariahs behind and then the other squad of warriors behind that. My Destroyers again hugged the back board edge, and filled the spaces in my half of the board. The monolith was deployed about half way along, with its portal facing right this time. The deceiver was placed 12 inches forward, about halfway along my lines, so 18 inches from the left table edge.
Turn 1
I sat still for this turn, and the deceiver moved and ran 2 inches forward.
In his turn, he chose and got his first wave, which was all 5 Big monstrous creatures. He placed them all about 15 inches from the front line of warriors, but got very unlucky with his scatters. All but the nurgle daemon prince scattered backwards 4-7 inches, and the nurgle on scattered 3 inches towards my lines, and the deceiver . He made some poor run moves to try and correct his deployment.
Turn 2
The Deciever moved to charge the nurgle daemon prince, while the front squad of warriors portaled through the monolith, moved and ran rightwards along the board edge. The pariahs and other warriors moved 6 backwards.
The Pariahs and destroyers managed to take 3 wounds from a bloodthirster, and in an amazing show of bad dice rolls, the Monster was banished as the deceiver made it take a moral check. He rolled and 11 and failed the 1 save he was called to make. The Deciever then charged in and put 3 wounds on the nurgle daemon prince, who caused one wound in return. He then failed a save from the combat res and died.
In his turn 2, 1 squad of bloodletters arrived, and he placed then in the open about 6 inches from my warriors, but a bad scatter ended up with them on the warriors. He rolled on the mishap table, and i got to place them, so i stuck them in the far left corner, opposite my Destroyers, pariahs etc.
In his turn 2, The bloodthirster moved to charge the deceiver, and the 2 flying Daemon princes flew 12 towards the pariahs, and killed 2 of them with their Shooting powers. The bloodthirster charged the deceiver, but i chose to leave the combat, and moved towards one of the slaaneshi princes.
Turn 3
The deceiver placed himself in between the Bloodthirster and slaaneshi prince, ready to charge what i needed to. The second squad of warriors portalled through the monolith, and ran to join the first squad. The pariahs backed off 6 and were basically next to the destroyers on the backline.
I concentrated my shooting on one of the daemon princes, and managed to kill it in a spray of dice. The deceiver therefore charged into the bloodthirster, and got 5 hits and 5 wounds, obliterating the daemon and consolidating 5 back towards my own pariahs.
In the Daemon turn, the remaining bloodletters and Bloodcrushers turned up, and both came down very close to my warriors on the right. The Remaining slaaneshi prince flew 12 towards my pariahs, shot them but failed to do any damage, and was 2 inches out of assault range. The Bloodletters ran to spread out incase of particle whipping.
Turn 4
I moved the monolith 6 inches forward, so my destroyers could move and Get LOS on the bloodcrushers. My warriors both moved to rapid fire on the bloodletters. The deceiver moved to within charge range of the last daemon prince.
In my shooting phase, my warriors managed enough shots to wipe out the bloodletters, and thankfully my destroyers and monolith flux arc managed to kill the two bloodcrushers. The pariahs shot up the daemon prince and knocked 2 wounds off it, which the Ctan finished off.
In the daemon turn, the 7 plague bearers did a great deepstrike and arrived next to a squad of warriors. The bloodletters moved and ran towards my lines, but were a long way off. The plague bearers spread out with their run move.
Turn 5
The game was basically up here, i moved the deceiver and pariahs towards the bloodletters, the destroyers also. My 40 shots from my warriors and the flux arc from the monolith killed 4 plague bearers. My destroyers and pariahs killed 7 bloodletters.
In the daemon turn, the 3 plague bearers multi charged both squads of warriors, but the odds were against them. They downed 2 warriors but were torn to pieces in my return attacks.
The game ended on this turn, again denying my a wipeout. But i had Qualifyed!
RESULT: WIN VP’s .1440-0 Kill points: 8-0 ctan Vp’s. 600
So i ended the heat on 122 Tournement points, 6433 Victory points. The ctan got me 2200 of these! A great tournament which i enjoyed alot. Looking forward to the final!

Nice batrep, thanks for sharing.
Best part has to be the Fateweaver getting owned by the much maligned Pariahs. Deciever and pariahs has to be one of the worst macthups for a Fateweaver army, so I feel kinda sorry for the guy (although it sounds like he either didn't know what could happen or just made a poor choice in placement of Fateweaver and maybe even in putting him on first wave).

Nice detailed report - I like the explanations alongside the descriptions - very useful!
Over the course of the weekend, how do you feel the Pariahs did for you? Is it only in tandem with the Deceiver that they become really viable?

they did pretty well, they are T5 and fearless, and my only real combat unit. Since they arnt necrons, i could sacrifice them without worrying about phase out. But yea, the LD thing with the deceiver was good.
I think you could try them without him, they have nice anti tank weapons too. Helps to protect me against dreadnoughts, which i struggle to stop

Thanks for the report, very entertaining. Usually I find Necrons boring, but the Deceiver really brought some variety into the games.
Looks like you had some fortunate matchups and I appreciate your gamble with the Warriors vs. the Chaos SM.
