Note: I haven't played with the new SM codex, but am currently building a Crimson Fist army.

I can't help but think utelizing some cheap combi weapons in the Sternguard will be greatly beneficial (the type really depends on your gaming enviornment).

Possibly a Drop Pod for the Iron Clad. Not mandatory, but the Pod could assist in limiting LOS and the Ironclad could be an early tank killer or thin out a horde unit quickly. It will give even more difficult choices for your opponent as you still have 3 Vindis moving up into position. The Dread would be an expendible unit, but should provide you enough time to get you into a good position on the table.

While I'm typically not impressed with a single Vindicator, 3 seems to have potentilal. This appears particularly true in a mechanized army.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I like the overall Idea of your army alot.
I've never been a Las-plas fan, but it is an undoubtably powerfull combo, so I won't tell you to loose it.
Perdo makes the sternguard scoring- great news. Your army just made its self.
3 Vindicators... well.... It's very scary to have 3. Thats for sure. I'll say this is an ok choice.
Ironclad- imo, without a drop pod, these guys loose alot of value. all it takes is an immobile result, and you're out of buisiness for pretty much the entire game.
If you can find the points- (switch lascannons to Rocket launchers?) put that sucker in a pod.

The only overall issue for me, is that the only thing you've got shooting vs. someone who chouches back 1st turn, is Pedro's orbital strike. It's nice to have some fire to discourage the enemy from setting up good lanes of attack on you. Being mechanised, this is less of an issue, as the most likely course of events, is that you'll loose one vindi, or a rhino. The trouble is, against an army that can shoot (i'm thinking guard specifically) you could loose an entire transport and squad first turn, and not be able to do much about it. Granted, once you're in 24" the sternguard will destroy the guardsmen, and the vindi's will do a job on the rest, but it's still something to consider.

Just an opinion- not gospel

...one amongst untold billions.

Well, I could afford a Drop Pod for the Ironclad if I'd equip the Tacticals with flamers and multimeltas/missile launchers.
That's good news. My plan was to keep the Ironclad (the fastest of all Dreads thanks to Move Through Cover) behind the Rhinos as a counter strike unit. In that way, it can only get glancing hits, or the enemy will not shoot it as its not the closest threat.

I don't know if the Ironclad works in this list. He has no real ranged options, so he can't contribute for the first few turns. If the Rhinos take off 12" each turn, then he's just going to get left behind. Might consider a simple Dreadnought with some sort of long-range weaponry instead, perhaps even a las/ml dread.

I think you should try for some combi meltas in the Sternguard. Maybe melta guns in the tactical squads as well.

Find a way to get siege shields for the vindicators?

Combi-Meltas for the Sterguard in a Drop Pod is awesome. It gives them a chance against high armor vehicles. PLus the Drop Pod gets you close to the enemy to use the special ammo quicker.

Iron Clad also needs a Drop Pod so it's an immediate threat to your enemy. Having it plod across the board getting shot at would be bad.

Well, the Ironclad could be mounted in a Drop Pod by given flamers and multimeltas/missile launchers to the Tacticals.
But there are no points left for combi-meltas. Dealing with heavy armor will be the task of the Vindicators.
