I have a force of space marines, I don't want them to be part of the Imperium at large but I don't want them to be Chaos either. I have written some background saying they live in the Grendl stars and the High lords of Terra say that that area of space is full of Barghesi so that no imperial pilots go in there and find out that it's not only chaos who leave the Imperium. Is there anything wrong with this and if so any way I could fix it?

Any comments welcome

I don't think space marines are automatically part of the Imperium forever, because some chapters have been lost (unknown fate?).

-they could leave "imperial space",contact been lost and thought as MIA/KIA.
-they could have an inquisitorial"accident" and got chased, but stay loyal to the emperor.
-independent as chapters are, its possible to be "forgotten" and they will assist Humans as other chapters would do,but can't accept orders from the highlords of terra. Maybe a conflict will occur if they are found again?

This galaxy is big enough for a 1000 chapters. There may be a place for yours.

PS: maybe show us your written background?

You can do anything you want as long as the story makes sense. Just make it believeable

My own Marines are from the Tau border so frequently have clashes and "temporary alliances" with them from time to time. They also follow their own beliefs of how they serve the emporer, leading them to be frowned upon by the inquistion as possible traitors (tough they are 100% loyal)

Yes, post the fluff if you can

Here is some of the fluff:

History of the Bloodbane chapter
Alium Destrus is one of the Primarchs who was expunged from all Imperial records along with his legion. During the Horus heresy he and his loyal warriors fought heroically against their treacherous brethren. After the heresy Alium had his Tech-adepts and bio-magi worked night and day trying to find a way to return the Emperor to his pre-heresy glory.

After many decades they found a way to do this, they discovered that a huge psycic outcry could cause the rejuvenation of the God-Emperor and even boost his phycic abilities such that he could maintain the Astronomican single handedly. Such a huge outcry would require billions of people to create, so Alium explained his plan to the Ecclesiarchy. But the recently appointed lords of Terra did not want the Emperor back, they wished to rule in his stead so they declared Alium and his chapter heretical.

The Bloodbane chapter found itself beset on all sides by zealous new second founding chapters, eager to prove themselves in the fires of battle. Unable to defeat such an outnumbering foe the Bloodbanes fled to the group of stars known as the wings of Sanguinis. The chapter was duly expunged from imperial records and the wings of Sanguinis were classified as dangerous and inhabited by the hyper-violent rdfgfdhghghg making them an ‘avoid at all costs’ area for starship captains.

Since then the Bloodbane chapter has carved out a small empire for themselves, but they still strive tirelessly towards restoring the Emperor as leader of mankind.

Sorry if the fluff is a bit weak but it is a work in progress

The rest of the fluff can be found at my W.I.P thread here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/221633.page#430223

PS: Like the idea for eastern fringe marines, pity the inquisitors are meanies!

Sounds good.

The only nagging thing is the part when you say "But the recently appointed lords of Terra did not want the Emperor back"

If your after any C&C then my personal suggestion would be rather than saying that the lords of Terra didn't want the emperor back (as this denotes herasy) I'd say something like....

so Alium explained his plan to the Ecclesiarchy, but the High lords believed this to be Chaos trying to harm the emperor by an overloading his physic ability and would therefore dampen or possibly kill the immortal emporer.

Alium and his chapter were ordered to allow the Inquistion permission to enter their (fortress, battle barge, or similar) for an investigation into the possible taint of chaos. Alium refused and was deemed a traitor.

Alium fled to yada yada etc

Food for thought if your looking for suggestions on fluff for the chapter, might even use something similar for my own.

Like the idea of an inquisition inspection bur I also want to confer that at the highest level the imperium is corrupt, or at least was to begin with. Glad to hear I may have helped give you some ideas though.

lol no problem, rather than the lords of terror being corrupt, what about just the Inquisition being corrupt.

Or rather how about maybe just one Inquistitor, that had a brush with Alium many decades ago and wants revenge. So he has set about to cause the destruction of Alium and his chapter. When he heard of Alium's plan he declared him a heretic and managed to subvert other Inquistitors or ones that were already corrupt to also declare the chapter heretic.

Would also make for an excellent fluff story for a clash between this inquistitor and Alium all those years ago to describe what caused the inquistitor to hate him so much. Good bit of fluff and history for the chapters records is a good thing.

sounds suspiciously like the fluff for my chapter, but still, sounds good but seriously, the chapter sounds good, the fluff is general but could work, the only problem is the use of one of the missing primarchs, this could provide problems with some people

my chapter is here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/220265.page checkit, it might provide ideas

Just a man, standing in front of a paint pot, trying to remeber if I rinsed boltgun metal in it.

yea my "renegades" arnt offically part of the Imperium anymore either. part of the fluff for them, is their main mission was to chase down and destroy all forms of chaos. They REALLY took this mission to heart and have stayed out doing this pretty much since they left. so seeing as they dont get resupplied the normal way, they scavenge parts of armor and weapons and the like from dead chaso marines. so they ended up looking chaotic. that way i can make my marines look as cool and dark and gritty as i want, and it totally stays in the lines of their background

this is okay, but the chapter would have a hard time maintaining full strength, as the xenos would wage constant war on them and there are no nearby humans

Yeah, I'm planning on starting my IG fluff soon. Basically they got attacked by an unkown tyranid fleet, along with a bunch of other IG planets. Because of the crash there are constant clashes and the main planet has been Urbanized. Basically the system is a giant RUINED city. I'll post a thread later

Woah, major necromancy here.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.
