[/img]I was inspired by the bothersome task of putting little counters on the bases of my heavy weapons to signify if the loader is dead or not. Very simple process. Magnets are from Rare Earth. The guardsman is well attatched.
Before any work

Very simple and basic tools...

Very small, but strong magnets...

drill out the boot...

one wound down

simply glue the other magnet to the bottom (with the correct polarization lol)

Just a little gravity test to make sure he's on there strong...

This is really easy, and I'd reccomend it for all guard players who use the large bases for heavy weps.
thanks for reading,
Iboshi

Good idea, I might just do that. Thank you.

Cap'n Gordino's instant grammar guide:
"This is TOO expensive." "I'm going TO the store, TO get some stuff."
"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that."

Nice idea

No good soldier lays their weapon flat on the ground! At least lean that thing on something!

But I guess with no ejection port, and possibly no moving parts at all, it doesn't much matter... but it would probably look more interesting/alive.

Should I be worried that that was the first thing I thought about that model?

Great idea! I will have to ask my hobby shop to get some of those tiny magnets and try that out! It would be interesting to model a posed figure to a piece of terrain on the base, so it doesn't look so empty when the model is removed.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

One tip, when using rare earth magnets, a little super glue goes a long way. Looking at the back of your base, you could have gotten away with 1 drip of glue on the side of the magnet touching the base.

If you need to source the magnets, you can get them from Gauss Boy Super Magnets. Expect to pay between $0.05 and $0.10 USD per magnet. You can get them as small as 1.5mm x 0.75mm.

Nice idea. I'll keep that in mind. It'll work especially well for me, seeing as I'm playing steel legion, and all they're models are metal...

... because that totally makes sense.

Rare Earth Magnets. Is there nothing they can't do? Cool idea, consider it stolen!

very cool, so do you use two magnets for either side of the base, or one magnet and one piece of metal?

I used two magnets, that way I got alot of hold out of them.

Yes, there is FAR too much glue on the bottom of them base. That was an accident- if you check the guardsman's boot, there is no such spillage. I'm aware that a drop works fine, thanks for pointing it out though.
