I'm trying to choose between a speed freaks list and a mek list for a tournament in January.

Mek armies are competitive. The winner of the German GT final fielded such a list.

It's a solid type of list. I'd consider swapping around some weapons - give the killakans rokkits or KMBs if you have the points, as with their higher BS they'll bit more often. I feel DeffDreads should have either skorchas or extra ccws personally.

I also might consider dropping the deff koptas and kommandos for a pair of Loota squads. The ranged firepower would definitely help. Oh, and bosspoles for the Nobz if you can find points, it's a great piece of insurance.

Lootas are an issue. If the enemy shoots them they'll eventually break. I'd keep the list with a solid number of Dreads and Kans. However, I'd take 5 Deffkoptas; otherwise, one casualty and the squad could be gone.

Swap the weapons around orks should never use rokkits imo.

And take shoota boyz ALOT better in footslogging armys where they can hurt your enemy while moving.

I run my dread with 4 dccw its a beast i tell you and even if he doesnt survive to get into combat hes drawing fire to him so other things will suirvive.
