Well, I'm guessing he didn't have his own grandmother killed. Nor was his grandmother a beloved figure in her own right.

On the whole though, Obama is totally the smiler.

That's true enough. But I think if you read towards the end of the series you'll find that
Spider also uncovers the fact that the Smiler used close deaths to cover up other things
going on in his life. Also, Vita Severn wasn't a beloved figure so much until after her
death and the Smiler played things up.
