GENERATION 7: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment

It was the weapon of a Daemon Prince. Not as clumsy or random as a Bloodfeeder; an elegant weapon for a more detailed age. For nearly a two editions, the Daemon Princes were the guardians of variety and flavour in the Chaos Codex. Before the dark times... before the Jervis. H.B.M.C.

I plan on running a pair of moderately decked out `Fexes myself. Extended and Bonded Carapace, Reinforced Chitin, Tusks, Scythe Tail, Crushing Claws, and a Barbed Strangler. Debating on putting the Toxic Miasma and Adrenal Glands on them or not.

I should note the tusks, tail and claws are also being taken in a big part because they look really cool.

CC fexes were useless in 4th, but now are playable - but yes they need plenty of armour or other distractions, e.g. 50 genestealers

Dakkafex is the best buy overall. Twin Devourers FTW. Cheap FTW. Most people need at least 3 dakkafexes to act as a base for the 'zilla list anyway...

Big CC fexes are still to slow because they don't fleet, they are generally easily avoided. AT least play a Strangler on them...

Some common misconceptions about Fexes:

Crushing claws is good!

-No, its actual awful because it is ridiculously expensive for a power that works against you half the time, if you took Scything talons instead you would always have 3 attacks, which is more consistent and better in practice.
Take tusked and scything talons, get +3 attacks every time you charge (Like rolling a 5 with the claws) and it is cheaper! A MUCH better option than CC to get more attacks is to keep feeder tendrils nearby the fexes so that the attacks they do get hit more often.

Running will make my Fexes keep up with the little guys.

-No it wont, fexes don't fleet, and a really bad idea because mixed fights with little guys actual gets the fexes hurt in loosing engagements when the little ones die in droves.

Tyranids don't shoot well.

-The new blast rules make blast weapons better as they always go somewhere but more importantly the twin linked devourers fex generally puts 7-8 wounds anywhere in 22 inches everyturn. They shoot a ton.

CC fexes are better

-Actually by the time a fex is made to be a CC beast it is over 200 points, and then a player could have had 3 smaller ones instead of 3 big ones. People also run from those, it works both ways you know...

Tail mods are great!

-Actually neither scythe or mace is worth buying because they only work vs 4+ models (worthles vs vehicles, and stops working when your trying to finish a squad or character) and they don't count as MC attacks for some reason, so opponents suddenly make saves from hits them?

I sometimes take a naked CC Fex with rending claws as a distraction, yes I could probably spend that 91 points better elsewhere but I really couldn't careless if it gets blown up as every turn you take shooting at it is another turn that my other units and MCs get to close to/shoot you. Of course any half decent opponent is aware of this and other making sure they stay out of charge range of it they just ignore it.

They also work as a reasonable meat shield for Winged Tyrants in case you don't get first turn, obviously once you start moving the 'fex can't keep up, but its better than trying to hide something as large as a Winged Tyrant in cover. Of course Winged Tyrants are less than optimal in the first place but that's by the by when you work on your army list based on how cool a model looks.

Hell! I'd certainly be distracted if I saw a naked Fex lol, don't they wear clothes in 40 millemium? sheeash!

Dakka Fex's are very good, having extra firepower on the rearlines is very useful to help cover your advancing nids
