Okay. Would this scheme for the barricades work?

Mechrite red on "face"/buggy bits followed by a scab red then blood red highlight. Wash with Ogryn flesh

Chainmail on the other metal bits followed by a wash of ogryn flesh.

Dirt would be a darker grey heavy drybrush followed by a lighter grey.drybrush. Possibly devian mud or badab black.

Skulls and bones would be painted as normal, while space marine heads would be green (?)

Does this sound like it could work?

Nope. It is for a school club. Past members tried the dead body thing. It doesn't work well. We now have a gory marine sitting on top of the macragge spaceship holding a knife that was in his chest. The knife snapped off, and now we have a spaceship with a bloody marine sitting on top and it looks like he is masturbating.

The actual models are fine. I want to know whether my scheme would work out or not.

Here's an idea:
Paint it and see if it works for yourself.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

That was not very helpful.

Require IQ stat check pass to realise the original poster whats to find out what it might look like BEFORE commiting.

Ther answer is to take some scrap sprues, remains of a plastic bottle etc to make facing and some sand on a rough and ready cardstock base. Use nothing you cannot spare, all you want is some 'girder' some sheet metal ansd some ground present together.

Experiment with that, log what you paint so when you get the effect you want you remember the mix.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

How was it not helpful? He is asking about all these different colors and shading, etc. and how they would look on these barricades. How are we supposed to give a difinitive, informed answer based on visual criteria that has no visual examples?

The best answer I can give to the question is, friggin' try it out. If you like it, it works. Not very difficult...
Paint it and THEN post pics here and ask opinions.

Orky defensive works? Surely sir, you jest!

No, I usually prefer red gore over scab red, although scab tends to cover better.

Also for the metal, I'd take boltgun metal and ad a tiny drop of black, to darken it a bit. Then perhaps a bit of flesh wash to simulate rust?

I can bend minds with my spoon...

Orks are VERY defensive. Take for example, the ork trukk. It's clearly a very defensive addition to any ork force because it allows the ork to be defensive MUCH sooner than if he was walking.... defensive in this case meaning a strong offense. Nothing more defensive that choppin' da utter guy before he choppas you.

The age of man is over; the time of the Ork has come.

I see...

Thank you Orlanth, I will try your suggestion. (As soon as I figure out what woodstock is!)

As for Pazar smurf, that helps a lot. I think I have a good formulae.

Da big toof is correct. Chop da uvva guy up first so 'e can't chop you up. Good tactic.
