So, I'm considering trying out a gunboat type tactic with my Orks and I'm wondering if my Lootas can spam dakka from inside of a trukk. The way I see it is that since they aren't technically moving they can still shoot even if their deffguns are heavy d3. The lootas themselves haven't used their movement would pretty much be disembarking, and are thus, stationary. It's open topped, so obviously shooting is no problem and the rules mention (as far as I've seen) mainly in reference to weapons ON the vehicle. In this case, the trukk's big shoota included in its wargear. I know that I can shoot all weapons at combat speed, but and one weapon at cruising speed, but there is no mention as to the passengers in the vehicle.

So I'm wondering if this is a viable and I that am not breaking any rules here. Or if I am possibly missing the section in the rules or maybe misinterpreting them wrong. What do you all say when it comes to this? Any limitations or am I free to rain dakka from the heavens to my leisure?

I'm hoping for the latter!

Ah thanks yak.. guess I can scrap that idea then =( Was hoping I could have a mobile artillery battery of lootas =P

Why else? Cuz he's the second fastest guitarist in the world. And... he can glue his face to the wall. lol

What you COULD do is put a unit of 5 lootas/burnaz in a wagon, but replace three of them with meks and give the meks kustom blastas/big shootas/rokkit launchas. Not quite as effective, and you'd have to choose between burnas and lootas depending on exactly how you plan to use the wagon, but it keeps the idea alive on some level.

Personally, I am painting 10 burnas to put in a wagon with a KFF Big Mek. I am making another unit of 3 big-shoota-meks and 2 lootas as a support unit, and I might try them out in the wagon to see how that works. The 2nd Big Mek (with a KMB) might link up with the smaller unit sometimes.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Well, not quite. I mean yea I can shoot here and there but the real purpose is to essentially work around the idea that heavy weapons can't shoot after moving. Plus, big shootas aren't nearly as sexy as the possible d3 S7 AP4 shots from 15 lootas.

And also, a unit of lootas or even burnas at just 5 isn't worth the points at all. the only thing you might want the meks in there is if you are vehicle heavy list.. even then I can't justify making more meks from lootas.. Especially if as you say there are 2 Big Meks on the field already.
