Hey, here's another one for you all....
Markerlights are Heavy 1 weapons. Move or Shoot.
The question is: Are the MarkerDRONE's move or shoot? Or are they move AND shoot depending on what kind of squad they're attached to?

I guess it comes down to, if you can't move and shoot with them, why on freakin' earth they would bother putting them with the Stealth Suits?? I could see putting them in a unit of 30" range Fire Warriors, but nothing so mobile as a unit of stealth/crisis suits.

The GW Rep (for whatever that's worth) referred me to the "Relentless" universal special rule in the 5th ed. rulebook, but all that says is that units with this ability can move and shoot heavy weapons. Is it ASSUMED then that you can shoot the markerdrone's markerlight being that the suits can move and shoot heavy weapons? And if so, would the stealth team even apply being that they have no heavy weapons anyways?

Thanks!

Read the drone's entry in the armory. It says under type, same as unit that purchiced the drone. So for Stealth suits and Crisis Suits the marker drones have relentless due to being jet infantry. For every one else practicly they are Infantry, which does not give them relentless.

Apparently I passed over that part once or twice.

Now it's all clear!

Actually, although these suits technically have relentless their codex specific rules prevent them from moving and firing heavy weapons.

The same is not true of Drones, who do appear to benefit fully from the Relentless special rule.

And to the OP:

You have to remember that before 5th edition It was pretty clear that Drones (and suits) could not move and fire a markerlight so when GW first wrote the codex taking marker drones in your Stealth suit team most certainly meant you'd have to stay still to fire them. . .which is why no one ever took them!

Interestingly Yakface, the stealth suits entry doesn't mention the normal rapid fire and heavy weapon phrase used for the other suits, because neither type of weapon is available to them, they can only have assault weapons, so in accordance with 5th edition, a Stealth Suit has relentless and theoretically could count as stationary for firing any sort of weapon including a Heavy.

That means the team leader with markerlight can actually move and fire it.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
