I haven't played with my biovores in a while, can anyone explain how it works in the new rules?

I will have 2, with bio acid mines. They use the small blast, correct? In the codex it says Heavy 1, not Heavy 1 Blast or anything like that.

So, I place my blast marker, roll for scatter and subtract BS if I can see them, and that's where it lands. Then I roll for scatter again and place a 2nd blast marker where the arrow is pointing.

I was looking through the codex and couldn't find where it said it used a blast marker but it does, right? Or will it just count has heavy 2 w/ 2 biovores shooting? Do I need LOS?

You place a Spore Mine and roll for scatter. Then you roll for scatter and place the other Spore Mine. Then you follow the rules for Spore Mines to see if they detonate, or sit around looking dangerous. See the rules for barrages to see if you need LOS.

Nurglitch has it a bit off.

You follow just like the multiple barrage rules. So you see if the first one hits, and then follow the barrage rules.

If the first one misses, you put down the appropiate number of mines.

Just to clarify even more:

You place a single spore mine to represent where your shot is going regardless of how many mines are in the cluster (which is one mine in the cluster per biovore you have).

If the mine lands on or touching an enemy model then you remove the mine and blace a blast marker over where the mine landed. Then for the rest of the mines you resolve it per a multiple barrage.

If the initial mine misses the enemy then you place the rest of the mines on the table touching it and this cluster will begin to wander around in your next turn.

ok cool thanks. The way I was doing it before was just saying I was aiming for whatever model in a unit, then rolling to scatter from the target guy and placing a mine if I missed.

And, you can't just aim for any spot on the table, right? you have to aim for a model or unit? I was just thinking if you could it might be a handy way to drop some mines as a small screening unit or just have them floating around an objective or something like that.

From biovores, you have to target an enemy unit. For FA, you can DS them anywhere.

Just keep in mind the spore mines are 1 KP each

First, they are 1KP per cluster, not per mine.

Second, a KP is awarded for a unit lost. A biovore does not 'create' a unit of sporemines until it misses and then that cluster gets destroyed.

from what i understand from the nid dex, with a biovore squad, they shoot bomb [spore mines] not creating a unit, even if they miss and leave the cluster, i really dont think it is counted as a unit.

And with KP's and spore mines, what if you detonate it yourself? does the enemy still get the kill points?

By default, everything is a unit. That is the only thing that lets you target them, move them, etc. So once the mines are placed, they are a unit.
It is not an unreasonable house rule to state otherwise, but that is the way the rules work at this point.

Losing the unit = KP, doesn't matter why.

god i love house rules =) KP's need to be fixed real bad, not just nids but across the board

I think you mean scrapped, not fixed Squid herder, victory points were a far superior system for measuring the same thing.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Argeed, when i go to a mates place to batle we will sometimes use the 4th edition rules or just the victoury points as we like them much more than KP's
