I have been reading over the WoC book and really like the Marauder Horsemen models. Can I give them both a spear and throwing axes?

If not, would it be acceptable to model the miniatures with the spear arms and count those only as hand weapons - or how do I model only hand weapons and throwing axes?

Depends on how it is written. Book is at home, I am at work!

Generally speaking though, Fast Cavalry get both ranged and hth upgrades these days.

I was looking in the book and there was no restriction such as "may choose 1 of the following" under the unit options. I also looking in the main rule book, but couldn't find a restriction there either.

Thats alright.

I suspect you can't take Flails and Spears though. Generally you get one upgrade for HTH, and one upgrade for Shooting.

there are no restrictions. you could take all of the options if you really wanted but it would be kind of redundant.
no problem with spears AND flails if you really really wanted to...lol

Lots of units in WH can have multiple weapon options. Marauder Horse appear to be one of them. Flails and Spears would definitely be redundant, though.

Spears and throwing axes are what the previous metal models came with. You had to clip the spears if you wanted to arm them with flails.

IIRC, the units in the WOC book all say "must choose at least one of the following options..."

You can take any/all of them if you want, but must make at least one selection.

No problem arming your warriors with 2handweapons+shield
