Hi all.
I've just been going through my bits, and have relaised I have lots and lots of spare bits, plus easy access to loads of other bits such as slate, various types of sand and scatter, plus other bits such as razor wire/piping and resin skull piles etc that can be quite expensive to buy. This got me thinking, what if I came up with some basing kits like GW did, possibly race related (e.g. a marine one with heads/armour/guns etc - great use if it's your preferred enemy/opponent).
Do you think this would be a good idea/popular?
What sort of things would you like from a kit - sand/scatter/model bits(if so what? i.e. ork heads/guns etc, random industrial bits etc?) Basically, what would be in your ideal basing kit, how much of it would you like and also what would you be willing to pay for such a kit?

It's a nice idea, but so many people and small companies do it already. Also, scatter, slate static grass, barbed wire and other general terrain building gear isn't expensive unless you buy it from GW, a woodland scenics bag of flock which contains around 4 times as much as the GW flock tubs do costs 79p, Static Grass from jarvis is £1.49 so make sure you offer something original and viable for you to keep going with.
Prices for basing kits are between £2 and £10 usually depending on what you've got in them, things like this
I'd give it a go if I were you though, Especially seeing as you already have the stuff and its not going to cost you any outlay to sell them off, put some together and put them on ebay start them at whatever you feel is right and see how much they go for!.

I don't think it would be as popular as the usual style of resin bases you see (some sort of uniform floor texture, or similar-shaped slate pieces.. that sort of thing you can't easily replicate). I mean, it has about as much potential as selling bitz, which is pretty average-bad. If you're the sort of person who cares about your bases, you've probably got your own little style going too. I dunno... I can be pretty negative towards unproven concepts, but what's the real potential you can see? A bit of extra cash in your pocket isn't sales potential; why not just flog bits like everyone else? ... Okay, never mind me. Give it a go and report back, I guess. I don't wholly appreciate the plight of people who live in the city and can't access good sand, rock or other debris. I'd never buy them, but someone must be. I only buy static grass. I still have the same bag I bought six years ago.

Ah you see what you don't understand is the"plight" of people who spend 6 quid on those bags of "realistic logs" from a famous model train company without realising they're just twigs dried out out for a couple of weeks and sprayed with varnish .

Oh. In that case I completely understand. I still don't appreciate it though.

Will the kits be available forever??????????????????
I tend to consider how hard it will be to buy more of any given material/supply that I use. If I decide to expand an army when a new codex comes out or add units for apocalypse I would like to be sure of being able to replicate bases, basing material, paint colours etc.
BTW I don't like enemy race related bases(severed heads etc). Just looks dumb when fighting someone else imo.
I do like the bases related to the army ie wraithbone flooring for eldar, gribblyfloor tm for nids.
