Subject: How To beat some necrons?

So I'm a basement player with only my family as opponents. Being that as it is I have gotten pretty use to playing my brother's horde nid's, fathers necrons, and occasionally my crazy German exchange student who plays my depleting SW collection. I'm currently liquidating my said SW army and am starting to collect orks(Big surprise i'm sure).
The Problem at hand is how, as an ork player, to take on a heavy support based necron army. He typically fields up to 20 immortals, a monolith, or some heavy destroyers although not always at the same time. He usually has the bare minimum # of warriors some 10 flayed ones. On top of that He has a nightbringer to throw into the mix if need be in the future. I've flipped through the ork codex and have gotten a slight feel for it but can't really see a unit that screams "PICK ME" for dealing with said problems.
What I have so far is
About 15 Shootas-mostly for objective sitting
Roughly 60-70 Slugga boys (big shootas as special-but possibly converted to rokkits)
5 Bikes-OOP style
2 Trukks
5 Nobz
2 AOBR HQ
Big Mek w/ Shokk Attack Gun.
3 Deffkoptas
5 Burna Boys
so basically 1 full AOBR set, a partial AOBR and a handful of others.
What i'm looking for is suggestions for unit's to buy or just some general tips for beating on my old man.

ok then, i like that syle too. now i would suggest waiting 2 months and then getting the new nobz pack, have a full mob of 10 with 1 waaaagh!! banner and all with uge choppas and a painboy, place them in a trukk, excellent at clubbing things and kick ass.
deff koptas with buzzsaws are a real winner in my book.
3 mega armouredd nobz in a trukk are a good surprise to your opponent [granted they havent seen you with them before lol]
you have enough slugga boyz

A unit or two of Mega Nobz in Trucks will cause big pain to a Necron list. They don't deal well with many 2+ saves, as little other than the Heavy Destroyers can penetrate em.
You can't reliably kill the Monolith with much, so ignore it.
Lootas firing on any unit that's not with-in 6" of like type unit will cause big hurt. A couple units of Lootas that are able to take out units on his flanks at range can force him to bottle up to keep his guys in the We'll Be Back range, and thus making them a nice ball of stuff for when your assaulters get there.

So, also what has not been mentioned:
You cut his necron warriors down to less than 25% and they phase out. If you can focus on his warriors, it's an easy way to make him lose.
Easiest way to do this is to get in close combat and make him take some leadership checks. He loses one - you can take the squad out in a sweeping advance or usher them off of the board.

both are good choices, however, if the rest of your army is advancing, this leaves your lootas vulernable to DSing necrons. be careful, but a looted wagon gets the green light from me, i love them ^^

I've seen 3 kitted out squads of nobz ('eavy armor, cybork body, uge choppa, and painboy) mounted in trukks basically walk right through a necron army. Aside from the monolith and heavy d's, the Necrons don't have anything that can punch through FNP nobz. Once they get into CC, it's over that much faster.
S10 Klaw boss is pretty effective against the monolith also.

if you have the points [and models] go a mob of 9 mega-nobs and a mega-armoured warboss [or ghaz] in a battlewagon, unstoppable and if you feel you need a vun. san then get grotsnik and pay for all your mega-armour nob cybork bodies =) i have used hiom and hes great in the squad, and gives you FNP too

I love playing Necron armies with minimal amounts of, you know Necrons in them - they're so easy to table.
Concentrate everything you've got on his 'crons. Ignore the 'lith, ignore Nightbringer. Take (is it Zagstrukk, I'm not familiar with the Ork Codex?) the guy who can bring stormboyz on behind enemy lines and munch his warriors in CC.
Pour all your loota fire into his destoyers - remember once they're knocked down they need to be within 6" of an 'active' 'cron of the same type to try a WBB roll and the amount of saves he'll be making from loota fire - lots will drop.
Don't worry about the flayed ones, big enough units of boys should munch them in CC.
Always remember to keep an eye on the phase out count and pick your targets accordingly.

Is there any reason you couldn't do Nob bikers? Turbo boosting 24" with 4+ cover saves should have you in their lunch on turn 2 with minimal losses. From there it's just choppy choppy death fun smiles.

Nob bikers is pretty much the answer for anything. They are a crazy effective unit that can take more punishment than nearly anything else in the game.
Fast moving, effective at shooting and combat, invuln save, cover save, Feel No Pain, and the ability to distribute wounds at will over the squad. Since the Necrons have no power fist (or equivalent) in their important units you have little to fear from them.
