So i've started to accumulate a good number of greenskins for my expanding warband. I've just picked up a brush and am not a very experienced painter and am looking for some critique. So basically say how you feel about the models - good or bad.

First some pics of my WIP oop Trukk-Very Generic I know

And then of the boyz-General theme of Brown Pants and Red Shirts-I do like to draw checkers though.

Your boy looked good to me.

Your truck needs some work, alot on the drivers, they're got no detail.

But so far so good!

Yeah I pretty much put an hour into it and left it for a bit. I basically just tested out how i wanted the metal parts to look.

You don't appear to be getting a good coat of primer on which to start your figure, particularly noticable here...

I would suggest looking at your spraying technique, I've seen this effect before but can't remember the cause. I'm going to guess you're holding the can too close to the model, and maybe you're spraying in conditions that are cold/damp.

Otherwise you're off to a good start.

your reds are streeaky. i can see the undercoat a little. either use the foundation paint or do 2 layers of red. they look good btw

The bit stuck on the side of England. Wales isn't it.

They need to be painted a bit neater, some highlights on the skin and a thin black wash will do wonders. A good start though.

The land of cotton.

The reds are blotchy because they are going over a black undercoat. Paint the areas under the red a mix of red and white first. Yes it will be pink. The white paint seems to cover a lot better than the red by itself and will provide a nice base for the red to follow. After that go back over with the red and it should be a lot more even.

Decent checks on that choppa and armor! As a concept the color choices look good.

@Howard - I didn't prime these but I see what you mean-Due to my laziness I didn't try to fix them and just painted over them.

@Everyone about my reds-I picked up not one but 2 pots of bogus red, very inconsistent and I'm thinking part of a bad batch-Most of the reds I've done in 3 layers believe it or not.

Thanks for the input- I should finish up some more boyz here so more pics in the next few days.

It doesn't look like you're using foundation paint, I'd suggest one pot of foundation mechrite red. Given the amount of red coverage you're going for, that will make your life loads easier.

Since I live in the middle of the stix I don't have access to a gaming store within 70 miles. However next time i'm in the area of said store I'm planning on picking up some new washes and foundations. Until then more layers!

BTW as a side note does anyone think the wagon looks too, Khorny?

i like the messy red.. looks like orks did it.. id leave the red alone.. but i agree with more details on the orks themselves... just hold it under the light and hit the bright parts with a lighter green, and dilute black 4:1 with water and hit the recesses.

Don't you DARE retouch the red on the vehicle. The way you've painted it, as was mentioned, really does look like orks did it. It looks dirty and worn and really fits the part.

The boyz themselves can use some work, but do the rest of your vehicles paint jobs the way you've done them, looks just right.

Agreed. Leave the red alone!

Thanks that means alot. I kind of used that mind frame in my checkered patterns. Personally I don't think orks have the coordination to make perfect boxes so I don't.

You know what they say, Practice makes perfect, maybe a bit more detail on the Trukk.

The red looks good though, leave it the way it is, although I would try to get an even coat on fabric as this wouldn't be painted in real life
