Had a game vs. a Tau player the other day, and something came up that suprised me just a bit, and I'd like confirmation as to whether or not it's correct. The opponent moved his vehicle 11", then had the firewarriors inside disembark during the movement phase. In the immediately following shooting phase he had them rapid fire at a nearby Herald of Tzeentch.

On Pg. 66 of the BRB it says models firing from a vehicle count as moving if the vehicle moves, and may not fire at all if it moves at cruising speed. Under disembarking though, it says models may disembark, then fire counting as moving. I don't see any prohibitions against having a vehicle move at cruising speed, having the troops inside dump out and rapid fire something. I was hoping that there was something that did restrict this somewhat, as it makes little sense to have the vehicle moving around quickly, everybody get up and run out of the vehicle, assume position, choose a target, and fire, when one person cant stick the barrel of his gun out of a hole in the wall and squeeze off a shot because it's going too fast.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense realistically. But it does make sense as a game mechanic where you can do the shooting but you have to put yourself out there. And if you rapidfire that means you can get assaulted the next turn.

Always 1 on the crazed roll.

What really sucks is open topped transports. If the vehicle moves 6+ inches the guys inside can't shoot out. But you could go 12" get out and shoot as normal. Really stupid in my mind as that severely hurts transports

Hmm, I swear I read somewhere that if a vehicle moves faster than combat speed a unit cannot disembark. I cannot find it now. *boggle*

OPs example isn't half as stupid as having a transport get Stunned. Crew and passengers can't shoot... but if the passengers disembark they're OK to shoot. :-)

It says under fast vehicles I think that a transport moving Flat Out cannot disembark it's unit, but there are no other restrictions.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
