A large swar I came up with. Probably not too competitive but would be fun.Criticism is welcome.

HQ: Hive Tyrant with wings, ES, TS, tl devourer x2 warp field 196 points

Troop: 32 gaunts with spinefists and with out number 256 points

5 synapses creatures, 3 MCs and 204 models.

You better hope you don't fight Marines with that list. Or tank-heavy IG. You can't hurt them before they'll wipe you out.

Huge gaunt squads Without Number is a waste. The odds of the ENTIRE squad dying are pretty slim. If your opponent knows that, he just sends a couple blasts into each squad to reduce it to less than 10, and ignores them the rest of the game. And at 2500 most armies will be able to do that AND put hurt on your MCs.

You would be scarier with Devourer gaunts. The sheer volume of fire you could throw out would be insane.

Now if the squads had scuttler...

it would be fun but way easy to kill...5 synapse creatures (3 of which are fairly easy kills) @ 2500. That's 192 models that don't know where the hell they're going....funny to think about really

Well to be fair he did say it wouldn't be competitive.

A newish player would crap his daks at facing that I reckon.

Still, imagine painting all those Gaunts. Sweet Jesus that'd be boring.

Would be fun (but not to paint!). You could do it with dipping maybe... but just assembling all of them would be a pain!

I agree about not putting "without number" on such large squads. Unless it's just for fun

And you would need more synapse and some tank-killers...

You can dip, but god that little paint on that.
Screw it, paint every one of the Gaunts with 14 colors, and give them different poses. Now that would cause Suicide.

yea I was thinking about the painting. I've actually thought about selling my nids because of all the painting. I think what I might do now though is go for a genestealer/MC army. It would be funny to see this fielded though...props for creativity.
