That's not how the
KFF works. You would get a cover save from the explosion.
You should be able to get away with only using one
KFF. Just run him in a squad of 30 boys, and when that squad eventually gets low on models, you can jump him into the other squad that's standing right next to him.
Also, with the new vehicle squadron rules in 5E, the comment about stunned and immobilized results slowing up your boyz is completely incorrect. An immobilized result is treated as destroyed, and stunned is counted as shaken. This is another reason why you probably won't need 2 meks - as their ability to repair stuff won't be used that much.
Things to consider would be adding a unit that's going to hold objectives in your own backfield, as the majority of your army is going to be advancing with the kanz and the cover they produce. Adding a units of gretchin with an attached
SAG could work, as it's something an opponent probably wouldn't get too excited about shooting at.
