Is it worth the +1 point a gobbo... I mean, I could take more little black robes, but, spears = good... Also, I don't see what I lose out on, I'm just replacing the HW with a spear right..?

Run them in 35 gobbo blocks, 5 ranks of 7... Maybe nets - always fanatics...

PS this is my first stab at an all gobbo list, yes all night gobbos...

you lose the extra +1 save in HtH in order to get an attack from the 2nd rank. As gobbos aren't really a killy army it's usually better to make them more suitable to staying alive

If your intentions are to win combat with unit of night goblins the points you spent on spears would be better spent on netters. Night goblins rarely win from wounds caused. So an extra rank on WS2 S3 attacks will not help you nearly as much as reducing your opponet's strength by one and keeping your hand weapon and shield bonus to armor saves. Preserving your static combat res of 3 ranks , standard and outnumber is about the best the night goblins can hope for.

The best way to win combat with goblins is to drop a Big Boss in the unit. Stupidly cheap and yet surprisingly effective. You can usually count on them for at least 2 wounds against anything without a high armor save.

Nets all the way. The -1 str and the hw/shield bonus grants you decent protection against guys that are str5 or lower. My favorite combat involves Wardancers against Night Goblins; str 2 attacks after the first round are rather laughable...

I'm working of NGs at the moment and will be using spears and HWs because there are so many spear guys, for so little dollars in battle for blackfire pass at least initially for my army I need them.

If the raggedy red banner wasn't so good I'd be giving the BSB the banner of butchery and stick him in a huge spear unit, justto see what would happen.

Nets for all units except your short bow units (which should be only used for the delivery of fanatics).

Also if you can get 2 net armed units into an enemy unit they accumulate their bonus (rolled for at every combat phase) so will (hopefully) be -2 strength.
