I just got my hands on a copy of the flick... had heard mixed things so I thought I'd put a quick review of it here for people who might be fans of the old Miniature Game.

It gets an A for theme and ridiculousness.

Considering the shoestring budget it gets an A for effects.

Storyline is actually pretty cool. It isn't really Canon from the old game, but has a good go at making the whole invasion of the Dark Symmetry into our reality seem a little less 'fantastic'.

Thomas Jane, Ron Pearlman and John Malkovich are all in cool and interesting roles.

Really, this could just as easily be a War of Unification movie about 40k, with a bit of Chaos tossed into it to make it more gothic.

All in all if you like the whole dark gothic futrue thing and are looking for a very bloody war movie... you'll like it!

I recommend going into it without any expectations. You'll enjoy it if you think it's just going to be low-budget Sci Fi.

One or two issues with the movie, but nothing that would keep me from recommending it.

Very interesting with alot of good stuff in it for all of you Necromunda/ Citys of Death/ Apocalypse players.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

What about the poor Warzone players?

"With pop hits provin' unlikely, Captain Beefheart retreated to a cabin to shout at his band for months on end. The result was Trout Mask Replica."

WTF....seriously?!? I have to be careful now, and seriously enquire as to the age of the above posters....not to ridicule, but to seriously consider if its an age thing that makes the film "attractive".

From a mature viewers point of view (30yrs) the film lacked substance, background and character development. The whole production seemed rushed, in order to deliver the most gore and fireworks in as short a space of time as possible.

I was surprised to see certain actors even taking part in this movie, and I wondered if they did it because of a possible "cult" following in years to come.

The film is filled with cliched statements, and VERY typical references to "good" and "evil"...like a very badly thought out childrens story. Cheap references to mainstream religion, and an almost insulting disregard for human mentality.

All in all, I'd give this film a 1 out of 10, and certainly not worth watching if you enjoy your films with even a modest slice of intelligence

Man down, Man down....

Did I not use the caveat that you should dumb down your expectations, and not expect some high budget or polished piece of awesome?

I put it on the same level with Deathwatch (WW1 HP Lovecraft sorta stuff)... featuring Andy Serkis!

Sounds like Star Trek (without the religion)... "Just a second, that doesn't make sense... Hey! Big flash of light, and cool green chick boobies!"

Being over 30, I thought it was an o.k. movie. I liked the WW1 feel to the battle at the beginning. After that though it just kind of bogged down. I read somewhere that it had a theatrical release in Europe, but premiered over here on Sci-Fi(or SYFY wtf?). That was almost enough to prevent me from watching it as I loath original movies on that channel.

All in all, an acceptable way to waste a couple of hours.
