So I'm stuck on equipping my dreadlord. My last game I had him with the heartseeker which worked really well, but he lacked a certain oomph. So here are the options I boiled down in my head:
Option 1: I'm liking the chillblade not needing to roll for wounding. Although against giants and other Lords its pretty much worthless, needing the opponent to roll high on the toughness test.
Chillblade
Armor of Eternal Servitude
Cold One
Shield
Option 2: Still has the element of a gamble but I'm still getting at least one extra attack, and if I use a challenge along with this I can increase my strength to wound pretty much everything on a 2+. I see this as a POTENTIAL character destroyer or good for getting rid of that pesky monster running around.
Hydra Blade
Armor of Eternal Servitude
Cold One
Shield
Potion of Strength
Option 3: More security but less chance of going toe to toe with named characters and coming out ahead.
Heartseeker
Armor of Eternal Servitude
Cold One
Shield
Potion of Strength
Option 4: A lower strength spike but a constant one plus I gain Killing blow for the cost of a point of armor. Personally this is my favorite.
Driach of Dark Power
Armor of Eternal Servitude
Cold One

Where is the hero going? What weaknesses are you including him to deal with?
Generally, I rather like a lot lance + shield + cloak + darksteed + potion of strength. Can be added to any unit for some extra oomph, and can pick of chariots very easily, or really put a dent in the STank.
Otherwise yeah, the life taker is very, very good.

He's going to be my Hero/Monster hunter along with his CoK squad of 5 w/dread knight. I have never considered using a mounted lord with the lifetaker...I dont think that would fit my playstyle at this point in time. I do plan to make a shooty DE force eventually so I'll look into that. But my army shooting so far consists of 2 x 5 darkriders w/xbows and 2 reaper bolt throwers
The only weakness he would be dealing with is stupidity from his mount. He'll have a 1+ and regenerate he's already gone toe to toe with Skarsnik and Gobbler and came out ahead.

If you are doing a shooty lord, better of Life Taker, Gem Of Re-Roll To Hit Thingy, and bung him in a big old unit of Repeater Crossbows.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste |
