a missile weapon (including Magic Missiles)

Its "fired" in the shooting phase, allowed while marching, specifically disallowed as a Stand and Shoot weapon, and can't be "fired" into close combat.

Would items etc. that trigger on missile weapons, including magic missiles trigger for a breath weapon?

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Yup. Missile Weapons essentially covers ranged attacks.

Generally speaking, if something is *not* a Missile, it will state so, rather than the other way around.

After all, if not being allowed to stand and shoot was a preclusion to being a missile, that would apply to all types of Artillery.....

Anything to back that up in the BRB? My FLGS said it wasn't because you use the flamer template- to which I plan on countering so does the Flame Cannon.

So does the Warpfire Thrower.

As I mentioned, some ranged spells do not count as Magic Missiles. Good example is Bladestorm. It states it inflicts WS4, S4 HTH attacks on the unit. Same for Fists of Gork. Although technically ranged, these are labelled as HTH Attacks, and therefore are not missiles.

Any other direct damage from a ranged source is a Missile. I don't think there is anything in the rulebook stating this, but it is common sense.

Well the one that brought it up was the Banner of Defense. Turns the Blessing of the Lady from 5+ v S5+ and 6+ vs S4 or less into 4+ all the time.

But there's also the Lion Cloak things.. I can't remember what they're called, and I'm sure several other things spread across army lists in the form of ward saves, or bonuses to leadership

Yeah, that's sort of what I was wondering if anyone had a line on.

The one thing that got us was if the Storm Banner thing for Skaven limited shooting of breath weapons.

The Storm banner limits shooting ranges right? Breath weapons do not have a range per se, instead you lay the template and follow the rules for templates.

Any shooting that doesn't use BS must roll a 4+ to shoot with the storm banner.

I have the same issue with the Grungi Rune Banner (or whatever its called) which gives you a 5+ ward against missiles and magic missiles. I can never tell if I get it against templtes, certain spells that are clearly flying at you but aren't labeled magic missiles, and so on.

Note: D+ can take over 12 hours of driving in Canada. It's no small task here.

GENERATION 5: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

If a Spell is a Magic Missile, it is clearly labelled so. For example, Chill Wind is a Magic Missile, Bladestorm is not, nor is Drain Soul.

T.O.

the question of interpretation is whether or not 'missile' means the literal 'projectile' or if in the context of the game it includes all mundane shooting. In most rule books the terms 'missile' and 'shooting attack' are interchangeable. In other words it includes any attack taking place in the shooting phase unless otherwise specified.
The anvil of doom is obviously not a 'missile' but against another dwarf army with the grungi rune you'd still take the ward save, no?
On the other hand you could go by letter of the law, RAW. in which case breath weapons are 'missiles' (launching fire or something else at the enemy). But something like the anvil is not affected, making a powerful unit even more powerful.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste
