Currently in a league and decided to revamp my old Salamander army with the new codex. This is what I am running currenly ran the 1000 point game and tabled guard. Next up is 1250 army

HQ - Vulkan

Elite - 10 Sternguard - 2 combi-flamers, 8 combi-meltas, Sgt w PW in Rhino 350

Troop - 10 Tacticals - Sgt w PW, Flamer, MM in Rhino 220

Troop - 10 Tacticals - Sgt w PW, Flamer, MM in Rhino 220

Add ons:

Elite - Dreadnought with MM and Hvy Flamer 115
Elite - Dreadnought with MM and Hvy Flamer 115
Troop - 10 Tacticals - Sgt w PW, Flamer, MM in Rhino 220
Fast - 3 Attack Bikes with MM 150
Fast - Landspeeder MM & Hvy Flamer 70
Hvy - Vindicator 115
Hvy - Vindicator 115
Hvy - Vindicator 115

Figuring to add DN & Vindicator at 1250 and the 3rd Tactical and Landspeeder at 1500. Then depending on match-ups, I have 1 dread, 3 attack bikes and 2 vindicators that I can add 2 choices each at 1750 and the others at 2000.

From my first battle, I can say that Vulkan makes this army hum. TL Flamers makes short work of non-mek opponents and a single TL Melta or MM just makes for a guaranteed hit. The sternguard single-handedly destroyed a Lehman Russ,
Chimera and a 10-man stormtrooper squad. I am finding that the MM in the Tac squads are rarely getting to shoot as they rhino rush up to opponents and then usually have to move into position. So right now, the onus is on the sternguard to eliminate the big nasties on the board. I am figuring the speeder and attack bikes will start taking over the AT role and when I have 3 vindicators dropping pie plates, the tacs and sternguard will be able to do the coup de grace rather than having to kill on its own. The cool thing is that each squad is a viable threat to any heavy armored target so there is nothing that a vehicle can ignore in this army.

Next round is an ork army so I feel fairly confident as the TL flamers and heavy flamers should do the work again but I am waiting for my first match up against a mec army and there are lots of the in the league. I did debate on drop pods but I find the old-fashioned rhino rush gives better mobility and survival chances for the tac squads.

The army looks quite good. I'd drop the Landspeeder. It fills the combat line but gives an easy kill point. If you take Speeders, take two or three in a squadron.
