Ok, got the DP nearly finished as far as the painting goes. Though I was very skeptical of painting it in the Word Bearer colors I've been using, I'm very happy w/ the result. I used only three techniques stippling, washing and drybrushing. Stippling is a way of fading colors into one another and isn't the easiest thing to use on most miniatures because of size.

As you'll see, I've still got to assemble and do a proper base for it but I'm sorta at a loss on the best way to mount the arms to the body. I know straight CA glue is gonna fail me. I'm tempted to work up enough green stuff to fill the cavity in the body and mount them that way. What has everyone else w/ this model done at this point? Oh, also..what about mounting the shoulder pads?

yea i can tell ya from experience never ever glue metal to metal(and sometimes plastic to metal) without pinning them first. I just bought a box of small finishing nails, clip the nail head off, then stick the nail in my drill and drill it into what im pinning. that way you can loosen to drill so the nail is still in the mini, and just clip it to size. then regular super glue is strong enough to hold them together.
without pins the peieces are to heavy and just break off.
OR you could go the GS route. id still suggest pinning tho. good luck and that DP looks great

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

The only thing I use paperclips for nowadays is... pinning!

Pin vice or similar is a good investment if you think you'll be working with a lot of metal, but they add security and strength either way. I even pinned my plastic Dire Avengers to their resin bases.

I pinned mine (no, I don't play chaos, it was to represent a CSM for inquisitor).

Both arms to body, body to legs. A small ball of GS under each shoulder pauldron. Pushed pauldrons onto arms and let set. Pulled pauldrons off, and added some epoxy adhesive (araldite), then re-attached them.

Been together at least 3-4 years, no breakage yet.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

cool, thx. Just going to be odd to pin since it'll have to be done at a pretty major angle. I pinned and GS'd all the rest of it so I'm not worried about the rest

Great paint job, let's see a shot of this guy all together too!

I've just built mine!
Drill and pin and glue the arm sections, set aside to dry.
Use long pins and put a slight upwards curve in them.
Fill the cavity with coarse putty. No need for green stuff. I used white miliput.
Push the arms into the putty and support then leave to set.
When dry (overnight) place a little putty in the shoulder pads and push onto the arms. Remove leaving an indent in the putty then allow to dry. This should give you a perfect fit!
Glue on shoulder pads.
Conquer worlds!

Hope this is clear enough or of help or both!
