 Hi there
Im new to the dakka forums and would like some help in coming up with an army, I came down to 4 options and which one do you think would suit me best?
I would like to start an army with that I can come up with my own scheme for without "breaking" the fluff rules and also are fun to convert and play with.
1. Eldar: I really want to start an Eldar force but theres 2 things from stopping me, firstly I wanted to come up with my own colour scheme but that would be breaking the fluff rules, as the Eldar are split into different craftworlds. Plus I cant do my own scheme for the Aspect Warriors either. However they should be good to paint and convert.
2. I want to start an Ork army too, but I dont like the feel of the horde theme and I think it would get boring just running them into assault all the time, plus I dont like GREEN!!! However they are probably the most conversionable races in the galaxy.
3. Tau: I looooooooooooooooove the models so much just I dont like their tanks that much, and sure their firepower is awesome but they screw themselves in close combat. Sure I could take kroot but I hate the whole idea of them plus the models. Besides the creatueres inside the battlesuits scare me.
4. Some Space Marine army: Maybe some Space Marine army would also be cool only thing is that I hate having the same colour scheme as someone else and creating my own chapter would be annoying for me, plus theres very little painting and converting stuff in there.

It actually sounds like you need to play Tyranids. Any colors are good to represent a splinter fleet, and modeling bio-morphs will give you enough to do until you are probably near death.
And you can have SO MANY, even if you screw a few up, you just hide them in the brood with the other 30!
Of your actual recommendations, I would say Tau. They are the easiest to make more dynamic and convert, and even little poses and equipment swaps look very good for them.

Eldar can be whatever colour you want. Remember Exodite worlds, which Eldar populations based on their own planets, often unknown to another population already there. I would also recommend Chaos to you, as there are conversion opportunities, great colour schemes and endless scope for stacking your own fluff. You can't be too annoyed to create your own chapter/scheme if you want to be original in painting and not have the 'same colour scheme as someone else'.

I did try Tyranids a little while back but I really dont like the play style of them especially having played against them and seeing how broken they can be.
I like Tau but I've heard people dont stay interested in them for very long, you know they switch to other armies and the people in the machines kreep me out.
Eldar, SM, Orks, Tau oh they all have good and bad things about them.

U should get tau, becuase you could always convert there tanks, and with there close combat there is the kroot and vespids, sure kroot are really bad for armour saves and that but they can relly help with destracting the enemy or delaying them so your battlesuits and firewarriors can gte ito possition to take out the killing blow, man i love tau.
