Subject: Ork Rokkit Packs?

I was looking at the storm boyz entry in the rok codex, and in the rokkit pack rules it states, Ork Codex: "storm boyz propel themselves forward using rokkit packs. rokkit packs count as jump packs. every time the stormboyz unit utilises its rokkit packs to move or fall back, roll a D6. on a roll of 1, one of the rokkit packs has gone out of control. its owner lands on his head and his pack detonates. remove a stormboy model as a casualty. regardless of the result you may add the number rolled to the amount the unit moes that turn."
does that mean that every time the stormboyz move they can move 12"+ D6"? if so, i think that there is a free fast attack slot in my boyz list

what other interpretation is available?

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Short answer, yes. (not the interpretation part)

Interesting, IMO it sounds like this rule pre-dates the run rule from 5th.
I'm not clued up on how jump infantry can run etc, or if the boys using rokkit packs would be 'between' the 12" move for JI and the run phase etc.

Yes Stormboyz move 12" + 1D6". They can also run afterwards in shooting phase. But take care, because the ork FAQ (IIRC) says they don't have the Waagh! rule so can't fleet. ( I suppose there jump pack move is enough)

if you look at it in the broader rules rather than just the ork codex they are a unit that gets to run every turn and still shoot and has fleet at all times, when you put it that way it sounds pretty sweet the extra d6" for running when you aren't in charge/shoot range is just icing on the cake, I can tell you if hellion skyboards were more like this I would happily take them with my dark eldar.
