Terrorfex states range:12 Sn/a APn/a assault 1 blast
roll to his as normal but instead of rolling to wound or save the unit must take a LEADERSHIP TEST at negative 1 for every model that is hit. If this test is failed the unit IS PINNED.
The Rulebook states on page 75 "Fearless units automatically pass any MORALE AND PINNING TEST they are required to make.
Question since the enemy never actually has to take a pinning test and he has to take a leadership test with an effect of causing the unit to be pinned and since the fearless rule says nothing about a fealess unit not being able to be pinned. Is this a viable way to pin a unit.
I'm well aware that dark eldar is an old codex and this is RAW not RAI but I want to know this stuff especially for things like ard boyz.

The question is, is a leadership test taken to avoid being pinned considered "a pinning test?"
I have no idea.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

Pinning tests are leadership tests. Fearless units are immune to Terrorfex and Horrorfex weapons.
What with the new blast rules though, non-Fearless units are screwed.

Wow, sounds like someone faced some Terrorfexes. Fearless units are immune to pinning and morale tests. I've always played (as a DE player) that fearless units are immune (as Nurglitch said).
Calling terrorfexes (which are now "main" weapons) cheesy is, um, a little, wow I don't even know where to begin...

One might call them cheesy but then one hasn't considered that they cost more than a Horrorfex which is for all intents and purposes better. Meet six or more of these in a list and the owner of any non-fearless army can as well go for a coffee since he's not going to do much.

Ouch, at first when i was reading through this I thought 'Hey, thats not so bad after all' and thought the upgrade pretty useless, but then again I'm only playing Nids at the minute.
But for non-fearless armies? Wow, thats pretty damn effective. You could immobilise entire chunks of an enemy force and do as you will with them (inevitably involving torture and sadism if the DE are involved).

Having used lots of these on my Raiders, the best part is they work wonders against Marines (and Black Templars, who aren't 'wounded' by them, and aren't Fearless when shot at), Necrons using the Veil, and any Deepstriking non-fearless units. Seeing as how most deep strikers choose to fire rather than run, you can cause some pretty heavy penalties to the Ld test.
I've had games where I've kept a unit of Immortals and Lord who used the Veil pinned for an entire game at the cost of 2 Raiders to make sure the Horrorfexes hit and he failed a save.
