What percentage of a model would have to be GW products to be allowed in a tournament? My search yielded 5 conflicting rulings.

If I had say... a cadian guardsmen, with different legs, a different gun, and a different head, would that be legit? If not would different legs/head? I'm not talking sculpted i'm talking like with parts from another game.

Can anyone help me out?

Mathhammer is NOT Warhammer.

The ratio I've heard was 50% GW, but as long as it looks good no one is likely to care. Especially not in the case of generic model parts that could be from anything. GWs problem is mainly with recognizable models from other lines. They would like to avoid any entanglements if such models were to enter a competition etc.

If in doubt send photos of your models to the organisers.

Agreed, i personally try to keep it above 75% myself. but also as it is 50% GW and is reconizable os a GW model you should be fine

None of them would be 'conflicting' rulings unless they're all for the same tournament.

Each tournie sets their own rules. You would need to check the rules package for the actual event you're intending to enter.

Yep, what Insaniak said. Heck, you don't need any to enter a Scrabble tournament............
Now if you are talking about an "official" GW event, like the GT, I'd suggest you check their rules packet, usually on the community page, under events, GTs. Anytwere else, contact whoever is running it.

In general, as long as you're not mixing in obviously Lord of the Rings part and if your stuff isn't being entered in for published painting competions, I've yet to actually see anyone care.
