Any face any of the ork biker lists... OMG?

I was playing the Chaos monster mash with 3 dreads and double lash princes with 2 defilers backing it all up... not altogether worried about the bikers... but good lord, they were rocking the house against everything. Huge props to my chaos dread that when neutered to a heavy flamer, as hard as they try they cannot blow my own stuff up now!!!!! Silly buggers.

I played against:
Round 1 Necrons
Round 2 Double lash Oblit
Round 3 Moondrakken
Round 4 Sternguard w/misc spacemarine stuff
Round 5 Double lash oblits w/outflanking chosen

Lots of lash/spacemarines lists this year. I was so happy not to have to play TMC and Eldrad/avatar all weekend. Thank god.

Great weekend overall.

GO TEAM SPITE!

Funny, what was the "nob biker list"? Is it the Nob biker unit with different wargear all around so the wound allocation gets spread out as much as possible?

@ voodoo, this is justin, yeah it was two units set up to soak wounds with cybork, 3-5 claws per unit with a warboss with claw, painboy, +1ws banner, bosspole etc. other than that its just one squad of 20 dudes and some grots, but the bikers score because of the warbosses. I played one round 4 with my tyranid monsterous creatures. On top of it, it was mark parker, so it wasn't like I was playing a 2nd tier player either. I tabled him turn 7 but it was deadly close to me getting wiped. If he would have had 2 more claws in each unit I would've been smoking boots where I stood but as it was, I lucked out in an assault with a tyrant+guard and 3 dakkafexes vs one of these death squads.

Overall I think its scary, but not lootas and shootas scary. While it can beat lootas and shootas it has, afaik, more foils to it than lootas&shootas does.

btw voodoo, 4-1 and 81 battle points with nidzilla, who says my army is dead in 5th.

oh wait, everyone but me...

Dude long time no see! Glad to hear you did well, 4-1 is solid, though I haven't played 40k since...well you know.

And I never said it was dead, I just said it would have problems or would need to change from what you ran before.

Was it with the new Boomfex's or was it mostly Dakka's?

I ended up playing, in order:

Space Marines (DIY) - big unit of sternguard - Major Win
Chaos Marines - Dual Lash, Vindi, Oblits, 2 units of chosen w 3 flamers and 2 melta each, other stuff (Mannahnin) - Major Loss
Chaos Marines - Huron Blackheart (Dureke Sanchez) - Minor Win
Space Marines (DIY) - big unit of sternguard - Minor Loss
Chaos Marines - Dual Lash Princes, Vindi, Oblits, TSons, etc. (Albert ) - Major Loss

I went 2-3 with Dark Eldar who were leaning toward good against Hordes. Apparently the meta game at GTs hasn't changed much, and you still need to be able to take down power armor, and high T stuff.

I was clearly in the lead early in two of my losses, but ran out of steam (fragility) during the later turns and got hosed. And two games being KPs killed me, as I had 20 KPs in my list... I know, I know...

Overall though, it was a great time, everyone I played was great. Twas a shame I only saw powerarmor, as I could have saved $300 bucks and played locally to see the same things :-)

*edited to add in some of the names. I'll add more as I remember and find my notes.

@ voodoo-Oh I know you didn't say its dead, but everyone else is packing it in after this year with that force. Oh well I'm still hot with it. I feel like nidzilla is soviet russia, and its slowly fading out of cold war contention.

4 dakkafexes. 2+ saves on 5 of my 8 mcs carried me a long way in this tourney.

@cruentus-that's an awful set of matchups! 2 dual lash? and the rest spase marynez ? I'm happy I only fought 1 this time.

Cruentus, it was a good time playing you in round two. It did look bad for me early, and then I clawed it back. As we discussed after the game, I think if you had played it a little less aggressively and used your range advantage more after you took the early lead, you would most likely have beaten me. Theblklotus played it safe in round five and ground me down to win 6/4; and it was only that close because I had a little lucky shooting in the last turn.

The armies I faced were:

Ork footsloggers w/Snikrot + a second unit of Commandos, 2 shooty BWs, 1 lootas (Gorgon)
Dark Eldar non-webway Raider/Ravager flying fleet + 2 warrior squads & a Talos (Cruentus)
CSM dual-DP lash, GD, landraider w/berserkers, 2 vindicators, 3 squads PMs in Rhinos (Sidney Lark)
Ork footsloggers w/105 boys, 9 kans, 2 dreads w/dual KFF mekboys (Bobby Smithney)
CSM dual-DP lash, GD, landraider, 2 defilers, 3 dreads, 3 minimum CSM squads in Rhinos, 1 minimum daemon squad (Theblklotus).

Not too bad a mix.

I faced

Mech IG WIN
Drop pod Stern guard WIN
Big Bug Nids Win

all 3 were max pts

day 2

Best general from Vegas with daemons... Win but only 14-7 since I couldn't kill that one damned soul grinder

then Nobs I loose... 4-19

The wound allocation and passing 90% of his cover saves vs my exorcists saved him ;p AND I had some tough luck with my cannoness

Agreed. These were my first games with this particular configuration, and not a terribly optimized list. In addition to the Talos, which actually did fairly well, I was at a loss as to what to do with my Grotesques, which, while acting as an invulnerable cover save generator for my warriors, were a lot of points that could have been spent on more durability and greater numbers.

I was definately more aggressive that I should have, and I have to learn to Raider away from immobilized Vindicators rather than continue to play in front of them. You did a great job in hanging in there when things looked grim.

Overall, my list was too fragile, with too few models. I'd do really well in the early going, then all the anti-tank (of which there was more than I expected) would whittle down the Raiders quickly, and any exposed troops were quickly seen off.

I played the following:

Ravenwing
Double Lash dreadnought/defiler list (nice to put an internet name to your face, theblklotus )
Chaos Daemon lots of khorne
Speed Freak Orks
Chaos Daemon even more khorne than earlier

3 wins, a winning draw and a minor loss (the last game). Have since found out the loss should have been a draw as my Daemon opponent got the stats wrong for a Herald and the difference would have meant one less dead unit. Ah well, we were down on table 3 by then and a little out of the running.

Good games and really great opponents all round. 3 of them went down to the wire and the random game length was a huge factor. Saved me twice and cost me a win once

As am I, a DE player won it, you can find his list here. Pretty cool, even though I'm taking something drastically different to next years circuit, it's nice to see the DE do well.

I heard there were a lot of VC going around, with game 5 having the top two tables be VC on VC, though there were a lot of fighty Vamp armies (lists should be in the link there too). Pretty interesting, I mean they took the Frostblade!

I'm just wondering about 40k since I actually know a couple of the guys who played in it, and it'd be nice to hear if Orks did well again.

Let's see, my IG ran into:

Eldar, 14-8 win
3 landraider Grey Knights, 5-18 loss
Necrons, 20-3 phase out win
IG, 12-9? VP win
Eldar, 20-5 win

Battle reports up when I can get to it.

And how come nobody came over for a group photo? Even if you're part of another group (biklotus, Team Spite) you're still a dakka-ite!!

40k Best overall went to Neil with Ork nob bikers
40k Best general went to myself with Ork nob bikers

And if you think orks are fair, there is something wrong with you.

Played against:
Dual lash, 4x7 plague marine w/rhino, and 8x oblit (20pt win)
Nidzilla with more than average gribblies (13pt win, minor victory on KPs with just gretchin left standing!)
Blood angels with dante and corbulo + dreads and extras (20pt win)
Shooty orks with 27 lootas, 120 shoota boys, ghazkrull and bikerboss (20pt win)
Witchhunters with 3 exorcists and chicks in cars (19 pt win thanks to the incredibly favorable mission)

Don I didn't hear the call for dakka photos either. Sorry dude.

Damn that's impressive. I would have thought 27 lootas and 120 shootas would have put the hurt on bikers but clearly you crushed them. How'd that game pan out?

To be fair to the situation, I could have left the game (turboboosted away) with zero casualties and claimed a massacre from turn 4 onward, but opted instead to have fun with it and hurl my army into his defensive position after securing at least a minor win in KPs. I was fine with that, and it made for a much much more enjoyable game.

The shoota list was a turn 2 wipeout. His forces were in a huge intermixed pile in the center claiming mutually conferred 4+ cover on each other. All of his klaws were packed nice and tight into the center. Bikes boosted up on either side, and the klaws in his army just stayed in the middle when he repositioned and shot. My opponent had a misunderstanding on multiple charges and expected a 2" spaced line of gretchin to prevent any bikes connecting a charge through them on the right flank, and the left flank received a clear charge to the squad containing ghazkrull, the bike boss, and a squad of gretchin at once. Pile in move on both flanks only connected a single one of his klaws to my bikes, the rest were too far out of position.

We rolled the left flank combat with ghazkrull and after focusing on his squad heavily and receiving almost no wounds back, ghaz has 3 bodyguards left and the combat is lost for him by 27 wounds. If he pops his waaagh he will likely die from the fearless wounds, if he doesn't he''ll flee the table. The gretchin flee and the full ork squad explodes under fearless checks. Realizing that this exact scenario is going to play out on the right flank, and with the added insult of the rules misunderstanding he called the game there.

Wasn't dissing you John...You're one of the few people that has been able to beat me in a Tourney when I'm using a list I like

It's more a serious flaw in the KP scenario when you can have a win under those circumstances.

Round #1 vs Orks (Minor Loss) I hate orks, and I hate them more in an objective mission.
Round #2 Vs. Space Marines (Major Win)
Round #3 Vs. Kroot heavy Tau (Massacre)
Round #4 vs. Chaos Space Marines (Major Win)
Round #5 vs. Eldar (Major win)

I ended up with 78 Battle Points and 12th Place.

In Las Vegas and Baltimore I faced a good spread of armies.

I will write up full batreps later.

Brought a mostly Jump Pack Blood Angels list:

Necrons: L 8-16 (Couldn't crack the two 'Liths and couldn't kill Warriors fast enough)
Death Guard: W 19-3 (Yay! My sole victory!)
Codex Marines: L 5-20 (Three failed Morale checks in the last two turns turned a crushing win to a crushing defeat)
Khornate Chaos: D 9-8 my way (Great game that came down to one model needing to pass two armor saves and an LD check to pull the draw out)
Twin Lash Chaos: L 5-18 (Just couldn't crack a Shooty/Lash Castle)

Never saw one of the Ork lists, and I'm glad I didn't. Can't see that game as a lot of fun...

For shame. My army was not mostly Khorne. Actually it was khorne-light . I'll have to write up one of my funnest games at the gt was against an almost all khorne daemon army.
